Good afternoon Gloria, Org, Senile, Three30, JD.
Been looking at the pictures on the weather website - wow! A lot of rain and snow, with more rain to come. Just be careful - and send some of that rain down my way as Summer is coming.

Happy Hard Drive, gs!
Evening, bigginTX!
Tomorrow is, "High Five" day! Gimme a high five. As a matter of fact, give everyone you see a High Five!
The "High Five" is a celebratory slapping of hands atop raised arms. It's been a standard for celebration of sporting victories, special event, competitions and many other activities for decades.
It's fun, and easy to celebrate this special day. Give a High Five to everyone you see. This includes friends, family, passersby, and total strangers. The more high fives you give, the better.
BTW: It's okay to give a "Low Five" today. But, only after you've given the "High Five".

On this day in history in 1492, a contract was signed by Christopher Columbus and a representative of Spain's King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, giving Columbus a commission to seek a westward ocean passage to Asia.
Columbus is credited with discovering The Bahamas and other, popular, Caribbean vacation spots....even though there were already people living there!

Liquid white out was very nice, but once dry white out(white line) came along about the late 90's I never looked back!

Tomorrow, in 1746, the Jacobite uprising in England ends when Charles “Bonnie Prince Charlie” Stuart is defeated by the Duke of Cumberland.
Welcome to Tuesday Eve, gs!
Aftern00n, bigginTX!
Tomorrow is, Rubber Eraser Day! This day celebrates the invention of erasers. We all make mistakes. This day is designated to recognize and appreciate the value of that little plug (as manufacturers call them) that sits atop our pencils. When we make a mistake, they are the big "cover-up", make that eraser, of our booboo or faux pax. Just imagine how messy our documents would be without it!
Why not just call it "Eraser Day"? There's two reasons. The first erasers were made of rubber. Today, they are made of rubber, or vinyl. Secondly, in Great Brittain, they are formally called "rubbers".
In the world of erasers, two men are prominent. Joseph Priestley discovered the eraser in 1770, using pieces of rubber imported from Brazil. Then in 1858, Hyman Lipman of Philadelphia, Pa., patented the pencil with an eraser at the end.
Today's Quote: To err is human, an eraser is divine!

On this day in history in 1865 Abraham Lincoln died from John Wilkes Booth's assassination bullet.
In 1912 with her band playing on the deck, the ocean liner Titanic sinks at 2:27 a.m. in the North Atlantic.
I think it was recently confirmed that a violin found was one used by a musician on board the Titanic.
And Leonhard Euler was born on this day in 1707. He was a pioneering Swiss mathematician and physicist and made important discoveries in fields as diverse as infinitesimal calculus and graph theory.
Mr. Euler was the cause of much consternation and agony for me in both junior and high school. I forgive him. :)

How's your Tuesday going, gs?
Tomorrow is, National Sibling Day! National Sibling Day is a day to appreciate and cherish your brothers and sisters. Siblings are truly a special blessing that we probably all too often take for granted. They are often our best friends and supporters through life. Another reason to celebrate is that not everyone is lucky enough to have siblings. Their lives are significantly different growing up, and throughout life.
Celebrate National Sibling Day in a variety of ways. It's a great time to be thankful for your sibling. But, most importantly get in touch with your siblings. Visit them if they live nearby. Call them, if they live far away. Send them a card, a letter, gifts, or flowers.

You're right, Org, tweed DOES itch when unlined! But it can be too hot when lined, too. Ah, there's not a lot real tweed worn in southern climes.
I'm no gambler. I went to Seminole Bingo and Casino yeeears ago before it became the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa. Since two people were not allowed to play on the same Bingo cards (they're very serious about Bingo there), I went into the casino, which was very small compared to now. I had $10 and played a slot machine. I lost the $10 quickly and then slowly regained it and then walked away. Haven't played since - with real money. I play the slots on Great Day Games with fake money sometimes - and lose it every time! I'll just stick with the crossword puzzles. :)

Today is, Go For Broke Day! Are you a gambler? Then, today, is your day. Today is a day to put it all on the line, and take a chance. It might be money. Or, it can be a love relationship. Perhaps, it's time to initiate a risky project, or to take a new job.
Many of us go about our daily lives playing it safe, not taking big chances. If you are of a conservative ilk, you may have never gone out on a limb, or taken big risks. If this sounds like you, maybe today is a day to really let loose and "Go for Broke".
If you can muster up the courage to take a big risk, you can enjoy today by taking big risks and "Going for Broke". It's up to you to decide whether the risk is worth taking.

Hello Gloria, Org, Senile, Three30.
We have 'tweed' in the South, but it's much thinner and generally not lined, though it can be (for a prettier penny)....the thinner version is still pretty warm now that I think about it.
And now, folks, my story is ended I think it is time I should quit If any of you feel offended Stick your head in a barrel of .....
Shaving cream, be nice and clean. Shave everyday and you'll always look keen.

Today is, Tweed Day! Today we celebrate the warm, fashionable woolen clothing that originated in Scotland. Seemingly always in fashion, Tweed keeps you warm and looks good, too. It should come as no surprise to learn that tweed is more popular in the north, and not often worn in the south.

Hi Gloria,
Here at the Funny Farm, life is beautiful all the time.
Money-saving grocery tips...I don't know if you have a Kroger there in the Volunteer state, but Kroger is my favorite grocery store because they always have good deals and they double the value of your coupon up to $1.00. Also, I receive coupons exclusively from Kroger on items I buy a lot there, some even free like cereal or snack crackers.
FYI, there ar 13 1/2 Kroger right here in Garfield, IL.
No coffee or tea for me...whiskey and rye or a Gibson's.

Today is, International Fun at Work Day
Fun at Work Day is a day to have fun at work for once. Ideally, work should be fun. But normally, work is not intended to have fun. It's intended to get work done. You're a very lucky person, if you if you can get work done and have fun doing it. The lucky souls in this situation, love their job. Unfortunately, all of us are not lucky enough to have a job that's fun to do. If that's you, then today is a day just for you! Think of ways to make your job more fun and exciting. Look to do some fun things at work today, even if it takes away from production just a wee bit.
Please Note: If you do fun things today that is counter-productive, or takes you away from the job, make sure you get your boss' permission first. Better still, get him or her involved.

Tomorrow is, National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day! This day celebrates small business owners. These individuals spend countless hours nurturing and growing their young enterprises. The workload demands, and lack of a hired staff, often translates into long and late hours, and many missed family and personal events. But, all in all, they love what they do. After all, they are their own boss.
New businesses have always been a vital, yet not fully appreciated, part of the U.S. economy. On they retail side, they bring different and unique products to the marketplace. They provide stellar and personal service support. When you call, you are more likely to get a real, live person. And unlike big national chains, they know their products. They are outstanding performers in niche markets. In manufacturing, they create many new concepts and ideas, making them creators of new products.
Celebrate National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day by showing your support....shop their stores tomorrow and everyday.

bibbinTX, Where have you been for the past 30 years?
Today is, National Goof Off Day! Now here's a day that just about everybody can relax and enjoy. It's a day to do anything and everything.....except what you're supposed to do today. Assuming you won't get in trouble at work or school, go ahead and play some golf, or play video games all day. Spend extra time surfing the net. Go out and spend the day window shopping with your favorite friend. Or, just read sit down and read a book or watch TV (NCAA anyone). This day is set aside for you to do anything you enjoy doing.
A few years ago, a survey was performed to identify the most popular activity for goofing off. The top activity was playing video games. Who conducted the survey? Nintendo.......no surprise. It kinda makes you wonder just who might have had the brainstorm to create this day......hmmmm............

Today is, International Earth Day! This day was initiated to make earth inhabitants aware of their responsibility to care for the planet. This care includes environmental and natural resources. International Earth Day was founded by John McConnell, of Davis City, Iowa. In September, 1969, he proposed the establishment of Earth Day to the San Francisco, California Board of Supervisors. After approval, he gained support from many others, including then UN General Secretary, U Thant.
In 1970, McConnell wrote an Earth Day Proclamation which was ultimately signed by UN Secretary General U Thant on March 21, 1971.
This day is also called Sun-Earth Day
Do not be confused: International Earth Day is different from the U.S. Earth Day.

Today is, Supreme Sacrifice Day recognizes the ultimate sacrifice made by some for the good of others. History is filled with examples of people who offered the supreme sacrifice for other people.
Here are some examples:
* Jesus Christ gave the supreme sacrifice when he died on the cross for us. * Soldiers in battle gave their lives to protect our freedom, our way of life, and to keep us safe. * Fireman and police officers have given their lives in the line of duty, while saving and/or protecting people. * More often than you think, a young man or a young women caught up in a love triangle, gave up the chase for the sake of their loved one. * The list goes on and on and on.
Today is a day to reflect and offer thanks and appreciation to those who made the supreme sacrifice for us.

Today is, Dumbstruck Day! Dumbstruck Day is a day to be totally dumbstruck over the things you see, hear and read. You may easily be dumbstruck to read that someone created this special day. Some people are dumbstruck on a regular basis, day in and day out. The events in their lives and the world around them are overwhelming.
......
.....
....
Sorry; I was dumbstuck there for a while!
...... ..... ....
........................................................................well; yeah
However, everyone has their chance to be dumbstruck once in a while. If you are normally embarrassed to be dumbstruck, then today is truly a special day. Today, you can be dumbstruck like the rest of us without guilt or embarrassment.

Today is, National Pi Day! Today celebrates Pi, a mathematical concept and a number that never ends....at least no one has found the end yet. Often, we round it off to 3.14. If you are a mathematician, this is your day. For National Pi Day is a celebration of mathematics. And, more specifically.... it celebrates "Pi".
Today is the birthday physicist Albert Einstein. Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. The date is also represented as 3.14. We strongly suspect some combination of these two facts is why someone created the day on March 14th. However, "Pi" was around long before Albert Einstein was born.
Sorry 10k, this Pi is not for eating!

I wonder... Why celebrate Ear Muff Day in March? I believe it would have been more appreciated if it was held in January or February, during the coldest days of the winter.

Today is, Plant a Flower Day! Plant a Flower Day is a day to get a little dirt under your fingernails. Take a few minutes to plant a flower today. Gardening is a great hobby. It's enjoyed by millions of people, old and young alike. Its a hobby that virtually everyone can participate in, regardless of age, and health. Identifying the correct date for celebrating Plant a Flower Day has proved frustrating and a bit futile. As this day was researched, multiple dates in March and May for Plant a Flower Day; found no content sites defining the day, and no written documentation. No one claimed to be the creator of this day either. Celebrate today by planting or transplanting any kind of plant. It can be done indoors, or weather permitting, outdoors.

Today is, Worship of Tools Day There are few things that the male population worships more than his tools. To some, a tool is a natural extension of their arm. So, Worship of Tools Day is a logical day of celebration. It's definitely a guy thing. Please note however, there are more than a few ladies who love to work with their hands, and find today to be an important holiday. Need a birthday or Christmas gift idea for one of the "boys" in the family? You're never lacking for tool ideas when you visit the local hardware store. Celebrate today by working with tools, and buying a tool or two. Receiving a tool as a gift today, makes this truely a special day. Just don't be a t00l!

Good morning Gloria, Org, Senile, Three30.
This woman would rather be in bed today with this head cold than working. :)
