we are in for some more storms today with a chance of a tornado between 2 and 7 EST that should be interesting, we had heavy rain and some hail the size of golf balls yesterday, but this weather will clear out by Friday and we will have sunshine for the weekend.
TOH (the other half) cooked a really tasty dinner last night, he cooks if he gets home first I cook if I get home first, he got the left over burgers I made on Monday and chopped them up with some left over beef from Sunday and mushrooms and onions and a can of tomatoes and some spices and herbs and some left over gravy and cooked some fusini and it was so tasty yummmm, sprinkled parmigiana over the top which melted into it.

Good Morning Claudie and Friends,
Claudie, you only think summer is coming. My calendar says January. It sure feels like it, cold and snow in the mountains and also SE Oregon, and who knows where else. Mid-Life cont. Mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wingspans...we are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squir***** in drag.
Mid-life has hit you when you stand naked in front of a mirror and can see your rear end without turning around.
Mid-life brings the wisdom that life throws you curves...and that you're now sitting on your biggest ones.
Happy Holiday coming soon!

Good morning, DsplacdToledoan, MidnsightSun, JM, USMCturtlehead, grmoore, scout, and hmcsretired07!
DsplacdToledoan, thanks for stopping in!
MidnightSun, sounds like a good idea to find someone to cut your grass; you are so busy that it's hard to keep it cut. From the way you describe the growth, cutting it once a week sounds good. I bet it'll look beautiful when all done.
JM, okay, will check out the Falcons' schedule as soon as I get some free time, maybe this weekend?
USMCturtlehead, hope you get those lawns cut today. Is the grass very tall? Hope it's not too wet. Hmmmmm, I must have missed it.....are you going to NC for a graduation?
grmoore, you got some rain last night? None here at all.
scout, hope you guys get the rain you want/need.
hmcsretired, these bats are not in the attic. There is an opening in the attic; it has a sceen on the outside and then louvres (SP?) cover the whole thing (for decoration). The bats are on the screen, under the louvres. I need to remind hubby, that at one time, he was going to build some bat houses. If he builds them, and puts them up, will they just got to it then?
I have an appointment with the eye doctor this morning; I'm thinking he wants to take care of a new lens (in my glasses) for my right eye. We'll see.
Today is Emma's last day of school, so this'll be the last day we have to go get her in the afternoons. I don't think I'll miss that pass. Seeing her? Yes, but not the part about going out in the afternoons.

Good Morning Claudie. Bats in the bellfry? Bats are great to have around, just not in the house. Smelly poop.... We had a similar issue with them getting into the eves of our roof. I got some plans for a bat house online and made three of them and attached them to a couple of the trees out back. Then after they went out one night we closed up the access to thier hole. Not sure if is still the same bats, but now we have them living in the bat houses. It is neat to watch them at night flying around, and according to discovery channel a single brown bat can eat more than a thousand mosquitoes an hour....

Greetings Claudie/others:
Happy Wednesday! 68 degrees and a little wet; more precipitation forecasted for today. I was able to get the front yard mowed and some fertilizer applied in between rain last night. My wife applied bug granules in the back yard so we can combat the ticks and fleas.
Off to breakfast and training - day 2.
Have a great day all!

Good Morning Claudie!
Thunderstorms and 80s today. Storms were heavy yesterday evening but fortunately no major damage other than a few fallen trees and loss power in some areas.
Have a few lawns to do today before leaving in morning for NC. Will be cutting in rain if I have to, no way lawns can hold off this time of year.
Have a great day.

Good morning Claudie!
Oh, then you missed out on the $4 footlongs. My soil is cow manure that was composted where it rests. Back then bought pick up trucks for $20 a load to have an organic garden. A mighty fine investment.
About 7AM there was the sound of thunder. Then rained severely at times, .37 inches/.94 cm of rain in 3 hours. Completed more paperwork, watched an early episode of CSI Miami, then went outdoors when the rain stopped.
Dug up the area soil four perennials were bought at Lowe's during the end of May 1 year ago. Really nice looking 2.5 quart containers of Gaillardia, coreopsis, Veronica, & Butterfly blue pin cushions. Not any sign of growth. Dug all four spots up only found the roots of the coreopsis.
The store needs the roots of all plants returns. So I'm out $19.44 and still need to fill those spots w/plants for zone 2-3 -25° to -35° below 0 (-31.6C° to -37.2C°). It's off to the local mom & pop flower farm on the return from a trip to the east side of the state.
Did stop in the usual Subway store and get a footlong chicken teriyaki loaded with veggies. Went to pay the $4 + .36 tax, the Regional Mgr said it was free. My receipt was drawn from the free sandwich of the week in their cookie bowl. My name and phone number on it. Thank you was said several times!
Had hoped to mow the lawn beginning with the 25% not cut last week. The lawn was soaked at 2:30 PM so a return inside to post this was done. Yes the Weed & Feed works so well when it rains. Thinking of asking around to find a teenager, or an unemployed dad to cut my lawn each week.
The temp is 50° with the high to be 77°. There is a 70% chance rain and t-storms. It is lightly raining. Have an 8 AM appointment on the east side of the state to get my tires rotated, balanced, and have a free two axle 'thrust alignment' and a front end alignment.
This was a $120 cost for a lifetime of free unlimited uses (this is my 3rd time) when the new replacement tires were prorated late summer at a fabulous cost of $30 each. Plan to stop at that area's local Walmart and see what they have for plants.
Have a fabulous day!

Tigers opened up a series at division leader Cleveland tonight, Max Scherzer allowed a run in the first, then retired 22 consecutive batters and the Tigers close the gap a game, always good to grab the first one on the road

FINALLY back from Emma's 'graduation.' Hopefully pictures to follow in a day or 2; there were several people taking pix of Emma (including one of my photographer friends who was also taking pix of her granddaughter in Emma's class). Whew!
Good evening, attitash, roadjet, Robustus, and yankie!
attitash, hope you got some nice rain outta those storms. Glad you stayed dry by driving to work. :)
roadjet, does the area around you flood once the snow melt gets down to you or does the river just rise up some?
Robustus, hope you can find out when they're mocvng your mom to a rehab place. She IS getting rehab in the hospital, isn't she?
yankie, thanks for stopping in!
Time for me to sign out for the night.
Good night, Buddies!

Good evening Claudie and buddies!
I just called my mom up on the phone a few minutes ago.
She sounded like she said they might be moving her to her rehab facility soon. But, I don't know other details about it.
Perhaps tomorrow, since I'm off work, I'll spend some time with her and find out more then.
Therefore, there's nothing new to report as of right now.

Tonight we're going to Emma's 'graduation' from pre-k and then tomorrow is her last day of school. Summer's a-comin'!!
Good afternoon, MusicTeacher, FULL OF FUN, and jjdm!
MusicTeacher, nice that you're having a not-so-busy day today. :) As for the mulch....a coupla times we DID use all the leaves from the trees around the house to put on the flower beds, but this past Fall we decided to just mow right over them and let them fertilize the grass they were on. Re: the bats....we'll probably just let them be b/c they don't really bother us and they eat all the bugs around here. We used to have them on the other side of the house, but this year they moved.
FULL OF FUN, retire? Oooooohhhh! It'll come some day! :) Sounds like a really yummy lunch you had today.
jjdm, I love the picture of your mother and grandmother! That's been a picture a long time coming. :) Will you be working more in the flower tent?

Good morning, Claudie! I think they scan the products out of the system....after that I don't know.
Today’s Picture! "Mom & Me"
Today’s Picture! "Mom & Grandma"
David’s Uncle, John, needed his boat cleaned, so he hired me to do it. Yesterday I spent a couples of hours cleaning his boat. After that Uncle John treated me out for a quick lunch at Burger King and then paid me. I worked 3:15 pm - 8 pm in the Flower Tent. The tent is now suppose to be up through Memorial Day. Sadly, it was very slow and we barely did any business. I spent most of the time sweeping and then putting the tent walls back up. Then at 7 pm, when the tent closed, I helped bring carts in. Then at 7:30 pm I came in and did some go-backs.
After work I came home for a bit and then went to Ian’s house. He was busy with his latest project, selling phone cases. Well, as he was doing that I looked at my beat up phone case. I was thinking about getting a new phone case anyways. So I had Ian do his sale pitch and I ended up buying a new phone case! After that it was decided that I would spend the night, so I came home and packed up a few things. At 12:30 am, I also went to Al’s to give Katie a ride home. :) Once she was home, I was on my way back to Ian’s. The next couple of hours were spent chatting about various things....good to catch up with him!
This morning at 8:30 am, Ian and I met David at his house. We decided to grab some breakfast at Memo’s to begin our day. I had the biscuits & gravy. After that we all rode around and chatted. Then I dropped Ian back off and started my day at home.
Have a nice day!

Good Morning, Claudie ♫ Thank you for clarifying your recently mixed up post! I figured that was what you meant to say. I am glad you are having a great day with mulching your plants in your garden! Yes, I know how much hard work it is to plant and maintain a garden! That is a good way to save water! My Mom usually uses the fallen leaves of the acorn oak tree in front of our home to mulch our plants. Sorry about the bats invading your home! I hope you can rid your home of them!
I have been so busy lately that my Mom took over the gardening tasks in our garden this Spring, including planting. But thankfully we were also blessed with lots of volunteer veggie plants, so that help cut down on our gardening work this time around. When things slow down for me in the summer, then I should have more time for my gardening work.
Yes, I do love word-of-mouth referrals the best! Not only is it free advertising for me, but I usually find much higher quality Clients and Students to work with from these referral sources.
Today is my day off from teaching and I look forward to a full day of doing tasks and errands as needed and desired.
Have a Wonderful Tuesday! ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬

Got back from the nursery about an hour ago, and started right in spreading the mulch in the 2 front beds; got 2 scoops of black mulch, which filled up hubby's red pick-up truck. Got the 2 front beds done, but were taking frequent breaks b/c the humidity is really bad today. Plus we were directly in the sun. :( Looks like we're going to need another scoop of the stuff (from the nursery), but that'll be for a different day (maybe early next week). Work, work, work! Who says retired people don't do anything anyway? :)
And then.....hubby and I went out on the balcony (off the master bedroom) and we found that the bats have moved back in! They were in an opening on the side of the garage (last summer) until Son and his friend got out there and redid the garage. Didn't see them for the rest of the summer; now we see they're in the opening on this side of the house.
Good morning, USMCturtlehead, Bus Jockey, Farful, FULL OF FUN, trugasCA, dickc49, and Scanman!
USMCturtlehead, thanks for stopping in!
Bus Jockey, yes, sad day indeed. I'm trying to see about a cousin I have in Tulsa, but have not heard of/from her yet.
Farful, had a good visit to the nursery. Found a coupon on their website that gave up $2.00 a scoop off, too. Saved $4. :)
FULL OF FUN, glad to hear you had a good holiday. Now back to the grind, right? :(
trugas, sounds like you had some good eating; was it this morning? You said there are 2 housekeepers? Does the complex supply them or did you have to hire them yourself?
dick, hope you can get those peppers and tomatoes in the ground today.
Scanman, yes, I try to practice the professor's lesson as much as I can. :)

Mornin' Claudie!
I believe you already practice this lesson:
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar......and the coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf ball are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions--things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else--the small stuff." "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. "Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Good morning Claudie, A cooler start to today as a "backdoor" cold front has come through. That is a front that comes from the north or northeast instead of the usual west or northwest. Still humid, but will only be around 70 or so, not the low 80's. Think I will go up the street to the farm stand and get my green peppers and tomatoes today. That will finish off the veggie garden. I also have a little more to do to my daughters laptop. I finally have an operating system on it. I now have to make sure it has all the proper updates and the like as well as the proper printer drivers. Mostly done though.

Good morning Claudie: Glad hubby is doing well and you are enjoying life again with an occasional quiet day.
Robustus: That IS good news about Mom. And that you will be able to manage at work and her visits better now.
HappyHiker: hope we don't get rationed either. We should get rid of all these lawns as they are water sponges and then there is the constant expense of mowing etc. Just such a waste of money, water, adn time. But l don't like some of the alternatives. These awful looking clumps of "grass" or whatever they are when there are so many low ground covers. One extreme to the other.
l am enjoying the nice weather and my new chair and yesterday the housekeepers both did their ting and everything is done so l can go mess it all up again. Staying away from the pool for a while to see if leg pain lessens. Went out to breakfast with one housekeeper and l had a wonderful chicken fried steak again. She had a stuffed hamburger and huge salad and ate it ALL. Smile. l brought home 1/2 of my steak and the mashed potatoes and had dinner. Thought l would make a salad to go with but it filled me up. I want to eat out once a month as a treat to myself now. l want to go back and try a pecan crusted trout l saw on their menu. Good thing it is almost next month so l can stick to "once a month" eating out. Tho l was taken out for Mothers Day...l mean out of MY budget.

Good morning, Scanman, Robustus, Lastdays, HouHrl, MidnightSun, JM, senile, hmcsretired07, scout, grmoore, and TUrtLE!
Scanman, the deal around here is that some of the grocery stores (I only know of 2) will double coupons up to 50¢; everything over that is whatever it says on the coupon.
Robustus, at this point (for your mom), anything she can now do is progress. Good news on the movement. Any idea when she'll be going to a rehab place?
HouHrl, happy birthday to your mom!
MidnightSun, didn't get to go to Subway for lunch; I just ran outta time. :( Will try to go later this week. That's good you have worms in the soil; hubby says that means the soil is very good.
JM, what about Sunday night or Monday night games?
hmcsretired, we haven't been having as much rain here at my house as we did before; maybe a half inch or so every few days, but I guess it's better than nothing, right? The last few years, we weren't even getting that much.
scout, yes, you sure HAVE been busy lately! Resting up is good.
grmoore, good thing you were sitting under the overhang at Sunday's game! I checked with my niece and she said they pretty much stayed dry, too.
TUrtLE, no, IE? Okee dokee! Mid-life series? Uh, oh, these might actually apply to me this time! Not about the teeth, though.
Lastdays and senile, thanks for stopping in!
I'm going with hubby this morning to a local nursery and we're going to buy a coupla loads of mulch to put on some of the flower beds (where there's nothing growing but weeds). That's pretty much it, too. :)

Good Morning Claudie and Friends, NO, NOT...NO IE!! :-) New Series-Mid Life
Mid-life is when you go to the doctor and you realize you are now so ol*, you have to pay someone to look at you naked.
The good news about mid-life is that the glass is still half- full...of course, the bad news is that it won't be long before your teeth are floating in it.
Have A terrific Tuesday!

Greetings Claudie/others:
Happy Tuesday! 69 degrees this morning.
In early this morning; I have training for the next two days and class starts early. No carpool, so here's hoping traffic is favorable during the commutes.
re: Braves and concert - we sit underneath the overhand in the 300 area so we were high and dry! Had we sat in the open, it might have been a different story for us.
Off to breakfast and class.
Have a great day all!

Good Morning Claudie, Glad to here those lakes and resevoirs are full. It was sad to see all those lakes empty last year on the News, with Docks streching out to dry lake beds. We have been getting alot of rain here to, but over the last week, it seems to hit everywhere around us, but us. Have a good day

Hi Claudie. I am opened for attending a Falcons game all weekends except the weekend that follows October 10th, we will be on our cruise.
The Braves have made it four straight.

Good morning Claudie!
Like those $4 Footlongs. Plan on returned today for their last $7.50 & under $4 Footlong Special. Like the chicken teriyaki.
It rained moderately in the morning. Made phone calls for nearly two hours, then needed a break. Watched a Star Trek, Next Generation show then NCIS Miami on Netflix. No stops for commercials is wonderful. The rain stopped late morning
Headed outdoors to my gardens for routine weed maintenance. The tomatoes and broccoli have grown as have the strawberry plants and the Concord grape vine. Tiny clumps of grapes have appeared.
Will prune back new vine growth to give the grapes all the energy needed to produce. The vine is inside the chicken wire walls and roof netting. Found two slugs on a leave. Threw them far away, they have lots of other greenery to feast.
Sprinkled some Epson salt around each plant. Then the winter's compost of veggies remains were moved to behind the last row of broccoli and tomatoes. Soil was added. These roots will eventually enter and gain the extra nutrients.
Saw lots of worms with the soil was turned over w/a long handle shovel. The worms will be happy with the vegetable matter and help to speed the compost process. The lawn was too wet to mow. The 25% not mowed last week sure is looking like a jungle.
The 75% mowed is growing rapidly with the Weed & Feed. See the weeds shriving up and the grass Kelly green. One fine investment to add W&F for less than $13 a bag. Need to buy several more bags for other sections of the lawn. Lots of rain on the way thru Thursday.
The temp is 48°with the high to be 66°. There is a 70% chance of rain.
Have a wonderful day!

Good evening Claudie!
Whew! I'm beat!
After a week off work due to illness and a family crisis, I'm back. It just happens that today was my longest day of the week by working 12-7 today.
Anyway, I headed up to the hospital after work which was a little drive. It is already about 15 miles from my place, but add another 11 from where I work at.
Don't worry, I won't be doing that everyday I work! I mentioned that to her and she probably understands. I think the persistent pestering Saturday was simply because she's lonely and bored.
Anyway, good news, she's gradually making some progress. She's was able to tap her fingers on her left hand today and it didn't appear she struggled to do so. However, she's still having difficulty swallowing her food and moving her left leg. But, seeing her hand move is great progress!

Evening Claudie..
C..No Triples is not an every day event. They do it for about 3 or 4 days out of a certain week randomly. Helps with a competitive edge..But they lose their a*s when they do. The competition hasn't ever matched the gimmick and we are basically an area that has 3 major supermarkets. Two being family owned. Plus the Wally worlds and Targets and Costco's. The common practice for the Supermarkets is to Double Coupons up to .45 cents on an everyday practice..It just so happened that the Sunday Paper (Delivered on Saturday) had a bunch of coupons because of the upcoming Memorial Day sales..They were utilized in my favor..

Good evening, roadjet, yankie, kathybye, and Mrs. Wrench!
roadjet, wow, it takes a while for that snow melt to get way down your way, doesn't it?
yankie and kathybye, thanks for stopping in!
Mrs. Wrench, things didn't go too bad today; juts ran a little later than I wanted. Emma gets out of school (pre-k) this Wednesday, but Jake's last day is the 31st, Daughter, who is a teacher in this county, has to go Monday and Tuesday, June 3rd and 4th (teacher work days). Hubby's been doing really great since his surgery in early March. He goes next Tuesday for a CT Scan to see how his innards now look; then in June we'll go for the results from the surgeon. Hmmmm, so you have some lower back problems. Do the doctors have any idea what could be causing it? Sounds like you ended the day in a real nice, calm way. :)
Time for me to sign out for the night.
Good night, Buddies!

Good evening Claudie, Sounds like things didn't go as well as you expected this morning, hope the blood work comes out well. when do the little ones get out of school.I think our GGC in Tennessee get out early but they go back early also. How is your hubby feeling since his surgery? Our appointments with the Neurologist went well, Wrench was going so he could get a couple Rx scripts, one being for his Imtrex for his migraines. I was there because my Podiatrist wanted some tests done to fined out why my feet & legs go numb & I have pins & needles in them & start to fall. She put some things on my legs that made them jump, than she stuck some needles in my low back(that hurt) & it showed something on a screen. She is very nice & friendly. She as well as my Podiatrist agree that it is from my back that's causing the problems. She wants me to have an MRI on Friday & come back & see her next Tuesday to go over the MRI. I think I'll be getting a shot for the pain. It's always something. Than at 3:30 Wrench had an appointment with his Urologist after that we went down to the bay & parked & watched the boats at fishing, than to dinner & home.
Have a good evening. By the way it was in the 80's here today.

Afternoon Claudie. On your question about all that snow from up north finally starting to melt. Yes, we will be dealing with it down here shortly.

Good afternoon, HappyHiker!
I doubt we'll have watering restrictions this year since all the lakes are full and we have a BIG rain surplus right now. Will be the first time in many, many years, I tell ya! :)
Hope you don't have to report for jury duty tomorrow either. <crosses fingers>

Hello Claudie, I'm glad to hear that Georgia is getting some much needed rain. Our season is about over and we've only had a little more than 7 inches as opposed to our normal of 16-20 inches. I received notice from my water company that we're going back on phase II rationing beginning June 1, with landscape watering limited to three prescribed evenings weekly. I've kept my automatic sprinklers set on the Phase II cycle since last summer (watering by hand as needed during really hot spells) so for now I won't have to make many changes to my routine. My vegetables are big water users, but having fresh vegies is worth it for me to hand water them after sunset.
I didn't have to report for jury duty today, so I'm having a relaxing day at home until my Bible Study group tonight. I have to call in at 5PM to see if I have to report to court tomorrow. My fingers are crossed. I hope you have a good afternoon.
