Just cause I'm interested in wines, thought I'd ask this question, and see what people are drinking

We had some Frascati with dinner tonight. It was homemade from a kit.

Grifone primitivo (Italy) "from old vine

Extremely inexpensive and very good for the price of a mere $3.99 at Trader Joe's.

I didn't even think I liked Zin.

Jadot Meursault 2008 ($30). Outstanding chardonnay. A bit of oak shows through, but lots of fruit and interest in this oily, full-bodied wine.

Justin Tempranillo Reserve 2006 ($25). Nice wine in the style of a Gran Reserva Rioja. Good fruit, smooth, but a decent amount of acidity making it an excellent food wine.

Adulssa Tephera 2006 ($17). Smooth fruit bomb of a wine. Most folks will really like this with a steak; I like wines with a little more complexity. Still, very decent for the price. A mix of Cab and Syrah.

2010 Murietta's Well The Whip ($17) a white blend with Sauvignon Blanc and some of the white Rhone varietals. Nice body, some complexity, very tasty white. Excellent seafood match.

We enjoyed a visit to Dusted Valley Vintners in Walla Walla, WA and enjoyed every wine we tasted.

I had the good fortune to pour their wine as a volunteer at a large tasting event and got great comments from tasters also.

If you can find it, give it a try.

2005 Medoc from Christian Moieux (under$10). Picked this up on close out last year, and it is drinking really well right now. It is an auto-buy if you see it anywhere - great quality for the price.

Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon

the first sip was terrible, but after it had a chance to breathe it was very good for its inexpensive sale price. I'd get it again.

With Jesus at the last supper - I believe it was Mogen David.

Last night? ..... a PINOT NOIR - A good one, and I was told it was NOT expensive
..... It was either Napa Valley, or French.

PINOT NOIR is probably my favorite burgundy.

I also really enjoy a decent SYRAH (or Shiraz [or Shirazi], which I believe is its Persian name). The Australians are responsible for its relatively recent explosive popularity. The southeastern Australians tend to be excellent, as well as cheap.

Even my wife likes Shiraz, whereas she finds Pinot Noirs and Cabernets too dry for her taste. She likes Merlots.

Merlots are, IMO, tolerable, but never excellent (per MY tastes).

I was taught as a kid (by a wino who bought me a six-pack of beer) .....
"you NEVER outgrow your need for MUSCATEL!"

Ch. Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 1993: Outstanding bottle of wine. Too bad I don't have more, and the current prices are up around $100 instead of in the $20's where it was back in the day.
