At first, I thought the cars here were not equiped with horns! My question is, when do you think it most appropriate to HONK your horn?

I am ashamed of this as it means my driving skills are deteriorating. I'm not paying enough attention and I'm getting into trouble. And I'm using the horn to cover for my own bad judgement. The horn should never be used if you are paying attention and driving defensibly. Sadly, I've somehow drifted from my former non horn blasting good driving pattern to this new ugly one.

The last time I used it was when some idiot in an Acura was trying to exit through the entrance of a local Chevron station. Most of the time, I use it when I think the driver in front of me has passed out. I'm not like some Houston idiots and blow my horn when somebody is making a right turn into a business.

If the guy in front is not moving when the light changes, a tap of the horn usually works. Someone pulls out in front of me and I have to take evasive action - maybe a little more of a honk.
