Chrysler recalling 142,000 pickups, SUVs.........

Chrysler is recalling more than 142,000 pickup trucks and SUVs worldwide because of software glitches that could affect instrument cluster lighting and braking systems.

Around 132,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs and 10,800 Ram pickup trucks from the 2014 model year are affected.

Chrysler said the Jeep's warning lights may randomly illuminate and its instrument cluster may black out. Since the same electronic module controls anti-lock braking and electronic stability control, those systems may also be affected.

To its credit, Chrysler is making the move preemptively, without any reports of accidents or injuries, or any NHTSA inquiry or request.

Grand Cherokee is prestigious model for Chrysler. They should get every thing rite on that vehicle.

Oilfan says "At least they make the recall and attempt to fix it. It doesn't seem to me that they [Chrysler) have problems after problem, so I think they're still pretty good cars. "

Oilfan, you make a good point because Chrysler vehicles are selling well these days..

14smoke, I have said in the past and will continue to say recalls are a good thing for the consumer......

I can't be responsible for posting ALL recalls by ALL automakers on this forum...

I am sure other posters will be posting as well..............

I post what catches my attention without any bias in any way, I know some might find this hard to believe but it is true......

Remember recalls help the consumer is my belief and has always been that way....

I saw the BMW recall mentioned alongside the Chrysler recall on the home page of this website. Not sure why NBC News would not include the two of them together...but, most reputable news organizations would include all recalls announced on one day together.

In the end, a recall is a good thing, yes, but, bottom line is that every vehicle manufacturer has them because all cars are designed by and manufactured by humans, so they are all flawed in some way, shape or form, and when only one is mentioned without mentioning all of them, it drives me crazy.

I know we have our biases for or against car-makers in certain countries for whatever reason, I personally would prefer, if we're supposed to reporting "news" of things like this, we should report them all.

Something gvan said on another posting about me........

gvan says " you should try harder to get along with people instead of such snippy comments."

My answer to gvan:

gvan,I get along with posters very well.....

gvan,I have a good memory of some of your comments on me in the past.....

gvan you need to earn respect not just be given it......

I have no issue with anyone but respect is the key....sorry you don't feel it from me but you reap what you sow gvan......

gvan says ""Interesting how the BMW recall of 170,000 cars for power brake problems, also announced yesterday, was not mentioned here."

Of course you know why. It's Contiki. Nothing more needs to be said.

gvan you wonder why you can never earn respect from me.......

You don't try.....sorry gvan you are not respectful at all.....

I am sorry gvan feels this way........

I will not address gvan and his lack of respect to me anymore as this is off topic and I want to stay on topic.....

I'm ok with recalls, get the problems fixed ....

I agree Dennis783.......

I have always said that the consumer benifits from these recalls and that is a good thing.....

If they is a problem with any automaker's product you hope that the automaker does a recall to correct the problem....

That article was not on my NBC news.......sorry 14smoke but that is why...

I don't pick and choose articles to post..........

I don't follow BMW much because they are out of my price range......

If you find this BMW report so important, please post it.....I don't know much about BMW and their brake problems....sorry but that is the truth and why it was not mention.......

I am glad Chrysler is doing the proper thing here by doing a recall....

Chrysler has not been very good at doing some recalls in the past even when safety was a issue......

I am glad this is not one of those occasions.....
