Both our vehicles have a low fuel light that come on when you are low in gasoline in your tank....

Does your vehicle have this low fuel light and have you seen it much through the years with your vehicle.....

Never had it come on with my 2005 or 2009 vehicles because I fill up at 1/4 tank.

Houckster says " My own personal policy is to keep the tank nearly full when possible to avoid condensation adding water to the fuel and to be ready for any emergency driving that might be necessary. Normally, I won't let the tank fall below half full. On trips, where refueling opportunities are not a problem, I'll start looking for gas at about the quarter tank mark. "

Houckster , I understand what you are saying and I agree to much of the same as you mentioned but this winter has been so different with so much cold weather......

I don't know if the cold weather this winter has let my guard down about possible condensation in the tanks of both vehicles and the problems that could happen...

I just found this winter has been long one and as I post this posting, it is snowing in Ontario now.................

I'm pretty sure that most car production in the last decade has included a low fuel light. In most cars, it's going to come on when the fuel level in the tank has gotten close to the point where the fuel pump won't be submerged in gas. The OEMs do this because the fuel pump needs the cooling that the gas provides.

I once let my fuel level drop to the point where the low light level came on to see when that happened and I probably had, maybe, about 2 gallons of fuel left.

My own personal policy is to keep the tank nearly full when possible to avoid condensation adding water to the fuel and to be ready for any emergency driving that might be necessary. Normally, I won't let the tank fall below half full. On trips, where refueling opportunities are not a problem, I'll start looking for gas at about the quarter tank mark.

I have seen it a lot this cold winter.....

I don't remember ever seeing this low fuel light on as much as I have seen it come on this winter.........

When my car's Low Fuel Light comes on I also get a message on the display asking me if I want to find the nearest gas station. If I picked yes then my car's navigation system will take me there. If I say no then business as usual with the exception of the Low Fuel Light being on.

I have seen the one in both cars. I have seen the one on my Harley. My truck it is pretty rare I see it. Gets expensive when I have to fill the 36 gallon tank with diesel.

Both our vehicles have a low fuel light that come on when you are low in gasoline in your tank. I mostly fill up before it comes on..
