Consumer Reports has released its assessment of the new Chevy Impala. It gave the Chevy a rank of 95, nearly matching the rank of the Tesla Model S Link here

So not only did the Impala essentially match the Tesla in rank, it completely outclassed the Lexus, and Mercedes, according to CR. Link here

I've said this before, that I don't really care for Consumer Reports, however, if they feel as though the car is good, good for Chevy and GM.

That said, it has no relevance to what I wish to purchase.

Not according to Consumer Reports. The method of propulsion is irrelevant to their testing. They are only concerned with how it stacked up as a car. The '14 Impala essentially equaled the Tesla in their procedure. The Impala also beat out every other luxury marque too, the Jaguar, the Lexus and the Mercedes according to CR testing.

QUOTE :::Tesla is a car for people that like to show the contents of there bank account on the outside

Most of these 6 figure cars are bought as status symbols. Typically the person buying one is not a car aficionado and derives little pleasure from the capabilities of these cars.

However, if you want to display your bank account, you could do a lot worse than buying a Tesla. The Model S competes directly against brands like Lotus, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari, etc. Those cars are all prima donnas and require a mechanic on standby, (preferably in the passernger seat). The Tesla is pretty much trouble free and simple to work on. Straightforward maintenance with a trouble free drive system.

With a Model S you have all the advantages of an exotic super car with none of the reliability problems. No ridiculous maintenance either like $4000 oil changes or 30,000 mile scheduled service costing $12,000.

who cares what CR says

if i buy a chevy and my brother buys a tesla

if i need service i can go to any chevy dealer or just about any modern repair shop country wide

my brother on the other hand , needs to drive 400 miles to the only place that knows anything about the car or can get parts for it "factory service". no cross country trips for him

Tesla is a car for people that like to show the contents of there bank account on the outside

not a real car for people that need to get places
