I've seen it happen and had it happen to me before in a typical Florida summer heavy downpour. It's kind of like sliding in snow. Luckily, it was only for a brief moment. Fortunately I have not been in any kind of major accident as a result of it.

Sometimes the ruts caused by big trucks fill with water during a storm and you feel like you're a salmon swimming upstream.

Having driven for nearly 40 years, yes, I have hydroplaned a few times and learned that lifting off the gas and only focusing on steering while slowing down is best. Do not apply the brakes.

Yes, a few times. When that happens, I check my tires for wear and almost always they need replacing.

yes & it sucks big time... i'll slow down for road-conditions,

but others will be ignorant to the weather and thinks their 4WD suv will power them through... that's what causes accidents

Yes, many, many times.

I once intentionally hydroplaned across a large section of flooded road because it was too deep to drive thru.

I was 14-15yrs old with a thorough understanding of hydrodynamics when I pulled that stunt. Worked great, but was a bit scary.

Sort of like Back to the Future, going 88 MPH.

In the past, yes. Interestingly I was caught in two different BAD storms today and it was the first time really putting the Continentals to the test. They were phenomenal.

yeah, once when I slammed a big dog that ran out from a bush in front of me in heavy rain. But it was more like spinning out cuz I slammed on the brakes..this was before ABS was around. Fortunately nobody was around and I left unscathed.

Now days, I don't stop if there's something that runs in front of me. My life is more important
