Most new vehicles have this option......

I wonder over time if this option will become standard equipment on all vehicles.................

Camaro_Joe, Again thanks for the interesting information on this feature....

If you don't own a vehicle that has this feature...you don`t know how it all works.....

Now I know a little more about push button start on these new vehicles....

To add one more piece of info, there is a key enclosed within the key fob if the key fob battery is too weak to start the car, which we have had once, but the key fob battery is very easy to purchase (watch battery) and replace. Her key fob battery lasted 4 years.

I also want to add one more discovery regarding the smartkey feature. The battery in the car was too weak to start it, but when the start button was pushed to start the car, the starter cranked extremely fast and would not stop until it was pressed again. If you're not familiar with it, it will startle you.

No, my Camaro does not, but wifes' Venza does. The funny thing about the smartkey feature is that if she is a passenger and gets out with the key in her purse, the car will start to beep, as if to say, 'Where's my mama?

Also, on the serious side, there is a warning in the Venza owners manual regarding people with pacemakers and the smartkey feature.

Awing1 says " No, I don't like a start button idea. It's convenient, but if it went wrong, it's hard to be fixed. Shouldn't rely on computer controlled system. "

This seem to be a popular feature with many new vehicles.....

I am sure this feature will last a while and with little problem if any....

If you start your car in the driveway to warm up, it will only run for about 10 min and the turns off, also the car will not start until the doors are locked, so if someone got in it, the engine will not run. The fob has to be in the car to drive it off

Interesting reading, rkt wgn.... both postings......I am learning what is like to have this option on your vehicle......

I have 2 cars with this feature and one without.
Personally I really like it. When you touch the door handle when locked, as long as you have the key in pocket or wife's purse, the door will auto unlock. When inside, you can just leave the key in pocket, push the start button, and it will start and run, and away you go. You never have to take it out of pocket. The car won't do anything without the key inside with you
I have entered the car without the key and had to get out and get it, sometimes inconvenient, but you can never forget the key, as the car will not start without being inside with you.
When I get in the car without keyless start, sometimes I have to dig the key out of my pocket to start the engine.
If I had a choice, all cars would be keyless start.

My daughter has a 2014 Buick oncore and it has a reg key for it.
The keyless ignition system can start your car remotely, unlock all doors, and run the car. Also it has emergency honking
Very good after getting used to using
On some cars it is an option, some have it standard equip

I wonder if this is a option or has it become standard on most new vehicles......

If any posters can answer this question.....I like to know.....

Can you still get a regular turn key ignition anymore in new vehicles...

Enquiring minds want to know...............

BartandLisa says " Yes, but only because I wired in a chromed stainless steel auxiliary start button, just for the "cool" factor. "

Interesting..........don't understand why but if it makes you happy that you did this...that's all that matters............
