I have been pulled over for crossing over the white line. I didn't. I was sober. I don't drink and drive. I was not using a cell phone or distracted by any instrument. I do admit it was 3:1r am. I was on my way to work.

Driving into a dead end street? The two Policemen said it looked suspicious? I told them "I live here, where do you suggest I park the car?"

I was leaving my girlfriend's, now wife's, house after dropping her off well after midnight. Whenever, it was that late I would back out of the driveway with my lights off so they wouldn't hit the front of the house where her parent's bedroom was. Got about two blocks away, and was pulled over by two police cars. There apparently had been a robbery somewhere, and the getaway car's description matched mine, a ratty beat up '50 Ford.

The only thing I could think of to get out of this predicament was to ask them to go back to her house so she could vouch for me. Fortunately they did, but of course woke up her parents in the process, which wasn't funny at the time, but later became part of family lore.

Got hauled over because the clerk had said I had filled up with gas and dashed [with my wife and kids in the van - I suppose criminals do come in all descriptions]. Luckily I had my receipt. Now I always get receipt - 10 years now.

got stopped as a kid as a suspect in a jewelry store holdup. My car fit the description of the getaway car. They searched my car for the loot. Then the Captain arrived and he too searched my car. Then they took me to the scene of the holdup for the proprietor to ID me. He didn't, (whew)...

I got stopped on 23 December 2011 (right before the three-day Christmas weekend that year) for crossing the street (it was a ten-lane street) on foot in an unsafe manner. I was shaking a lot and they ended out taking me to the emergency room. I didn't have a vehicle then (my former one had been totaled) and the power was out in my apartment because my electric bill got messed up when I was in the hospital and a nursing home. I decided to spend the three-day Christmas weekend holed up in a motel, venturing out only for food and medicine.

On my way to work once, a state trooper pulled me over while I was eating a burger and fries (apparently I was weaving a little). I was working temporarily as a state security manager, and had on a uniform (we were badged). He looked at me, looked at the uniform, and then asked what I was doing. I showed him the 1/2 eaten burger, he shook his head, and said I needed to pay a little more attention to the road. Let me go after that. Another time, (still as a state security manager), a major storm had rolled through, and most of the lights were out. I was in a Caprice Classic, and there was zero traffic on the road due to the snow conditions (in a southern state). I got to a red light, slowed, and pushed on through w/o stopping after checking for traffic. City cop pulled me over, looked at the uniform, and told me to come to a complete stop next time...

Got pulled over on my bicycle once.

I went with the flow as I had no idea why he stopped me. As I'm a bike racer, I was going fairly fast, all of 20mph, heyheyhey.

I had a pleasant chat with the dude but he wasn't saying why he stopped me. It finally occured to me. This was a gay cop, and he found me juicy in race garb. Not my type though, heyheyhey.

I was pulled over (in a very nice neighborhood I might add) because my car was registered to a woman. Ironically, a female friend of mine was in the passenger seat at the time....gotta love Montreal.

I was "pulled" in a most unusual way traveling thru Asheville NC in 1990. A trooper followed me off I 40 and at the exit light stopped next to me, politely asked if I had just a minute to pull over and show him the extremely rare car I was driving - he was fascinated with it. :-0

The minute of dread I had felt on the exit was replaced by "happy to show you officer" - it was all good :)

I got stopped once because the trooper didn't think I had a front plate but it had been bent down slightly because I had driven into a snow bank. It was one of those cars with the plate under the front bumper. He walked by my window, asked for my license and registration (this was before insurance was mandatory), looked at the front of the car, said "Never mind, I didn't see your front plate when you went by me", got in his car and left.

"For illegally using a parking lot to make a U-turn....."

Wow! I've done that. Never thought that was illegal especially since it is on private property. What city & state was this?

For illegally using a parking lot to make a u-turn rather than actually making the u-turn on the main road which looked impossible. No ticket was issued after I plead that I was from out of town and had no idea this could be illegal.

Once I was pulled over by a WA state trooper because he thought my car was defective looking. Now to be sure my '56 Plymouth Savoy was did not have a very good paint job and it had about 250,000 on it but it had a new engine and rebuilt brakes a actually ran pretty well. I was fortunate to be pulled over in front of the local Safeway store in broad daylight on the busiest street in town. The cop could not find any thing wrong with the car except he said the pedal travel was too much so he wrote me up for defective brakes. This was a defective equipment fine of 25 dollars in 1970. I took it to court and lost but the judge reduced the fine to 20 dollars for reasons that I never understood.

Some time after that this particular trooper was in court for beating up a couple of football players and was eventually dismissed from the WA State Police for brutality. I was fortunate to be in the place and time that I was or I might have been beat up too. There were too many people around at the time.

I just thought of another time I got stopped. I was turning around on a deserted suburban highway and saw some headlights in the distance while turning so I drove up on the curb rather than back up. The cop probably thought I had been drinking but he didn't give me a ticket.

I got stopped once under suspicion of DUI. Apparently driving under the speed limit on a clear highway is one sign of a potential DUI. I was driving my girlfriend (at the time) home late at night, 10km/h under the speed limit and we were talking away and in no rush to get there.

"I don't get pulled over by the police because I don't bring adverse attention to myself....."

That and some luck. Everyone makes mistakes when they are driving.

I don't get pulled over by the police because I don't bring adverse attention to myself, plus my vehicle is legal with everything up to date. If you want to get stopped real quick, then lead a pack of cars while speeding.

I got a ticket for going thru a yellow light....dismissed in court. Once when I was a teenager we got stopped by a policeman who alleged we threw a beer can out the window. Then after he checked us out he said maybe the tire kicked up the can.
