I do. I can do everything except engine/transmission teardown/rebuild and sheet metal repair/paint. What skill(s) do you have?

Do all the repairs that don't need me to use a car lift, like one in the repair shops, for my wife's and my car.

I do some of it. Things that involve fluid draining I really can't do because of the incline my vehicle is parked at (I know how, but it's steep enough that I'd never get all the old fluid out).

Over the past years I tackled most repairs, have slacked off a lot, still as a automotive enthusiast on certain occasions I break back into the routine. Saving much repair dollars that way.....

About the same as you - can do some engine repair (alternators, starters, remove head so machine shop can refurbish) but only clean or change filters + fluid in an automatic trans,..

I pulled an abandoned Escort Wagon from under a guy's tree and resurrected it. He got $250 and I got a car that saves me a ton of gas compared to my SUV (32 vs 15 mpg). It needed $750 in parts so far but that takes care of virtually all wear items, including tires, timing belt/water pump, brakes, etc and it also accounts for everything no matter how small.

It sat for over a year and I had it on the road a few weeks after getting the title.

When/if the transmission and/or motor goes I'll rebuild those too.

I also did a good deal of work to my SUV. Rebuilt the front suspension/steering parts, new suspension in the rear, etc. It was going to be abandoned too but I got it cheap as well.

I'm willing to do anything that doesn't require a special, obnoxiously/prohibitively expensive tool/machine. Sadly that means I can't balance my own tires or do my own alignments or machine a head or block. But I can still do a helluva lot.

I tore down another Ford Escort completely and scrapped the chassis and am in the process of selling the good parts. It helped me learn a lot about the good one I have now and give me the confidence to try anything.
