Titanic is spot on. To ask what color your fog lights are is basically a misnomer and "nonexistent question" like "which is better, 6 or 8 legged insects."

Very few cars have fog lamps but they do have "driving lights."

Good Morning EdPg,

This Topic came up over a year ago and does need some clarification. "Fog Lamps" are amber in color and are more effective in fog and rainy conditions. Clear lights are either called "driving lights" or "running lights". Here is a document regarding the description of automotive lighting:

Automotive Lighting

In regards to your question my three vehicles have:

2012 Chevrolet Sonic LT Hatchback - "running lights" or "driving lights"
2011 Toyota Matrix (Base) - None
2010 Ford Ranger XL - None

On a personal note, in 2012 my Chevrolet Sonic only came with these lights when combined with 17" low profile tires/wheels and none were available for purchase. I had the dealer install the light kit, normally $550 for $200 without the tire/wheel purchase. These lights are well worth the money as I live in the country with dark back roads. They "fill in" the ground area not covered by the headlights and a bit off to both sides. I really do like them.

Take care :-). MGY

amber

when they're clear; it's considered to be "driving lights" instead

I think the amber lights are more efficient in foggy/rainy conditions

clear - would prefer amber because yellow light = longer wavelength = better fog penetration. Not an issue in S. Fla; no fog, just clueless drivers with them on all the time.

Currently the two with fog lamps are clear, my older Mercedes Benzes all had chromium (yellow). I think the yellow works better in the fog.
