Honda minivan comes with a built-in vacuum.....

If we said the new 2014 Odyssey minivan sucked, Honda might just take that as a compliment. The updated Odyssey Touring Elite model debuting at the New York Auto Show will introduce a new feature likely to have significant appeal to family buyers – the first in-car vacuum.

The HondaVAC is one of several new features being introduced on the 2014 Honda Odyssey which has gained steady momentum in an otherwise shrinking market segment.

Minivan sales are currently less than half of what they peaked at a decade ago, but there is still a sizable demand among family buyers who see them as the most functional and efficient people-movers on the market. The challenge is coming up with a consistent stream of new innovations.

Honda minivan comes with a built-in vacuum.....

Tell me what do you think of this as a option for a vehicle.......

What do you think..........

If I was buying a van I would like this feature for trips and family mess..

Honda and I am a Honda guy does make their vehicles with conditions good for family use...........

Honda Odyssey is far superior van compared to many of the domestic vans...

Take a ride in Honda Odyssey or even drive one and you will know what I mean....

I have driven many of the domestic vans and they don't even come close to the quality of Honda Odyssey.......

That is my opinion and until I drive a better van than the Honda Odyssey I will keep that opinion..........

Not a fan of Honda. Just a personal opinion now. If it came with a portable vacumm it seems crazy to go buy it because it came with one. If thats what you like ? Seek out portable vacumms and go from there. If they need 120 power then get a 12 volt to 120 power adaptor that plugs into your cigarette lighter. I bought one for my laptop. Works good. However not good on things with high wattage.

Logically, you'd think Honda would forgo vacuum bags and have a catch basin somewhere easily accessible. There would probably be some sort of filter to change out or clean (like your central vac at home).

This feature is good for people who do a lot of travelling with kids and may be away from home for long periods.

It's available on the $45,000 top of the line model so be sure to ask for that one when you go minivan shopping. It is not a wet vac either.

Alexi7 says "Really a pretty good idea. Not like you can pack your ShopVac, much less plug it in. And if Honda is doing it, they'll probably do it right; something like a little DusterBuster that plugs into your lighter socket. There's always a mess in a minivan full of kids. "

As someone else said, I hope you can go into some hardware store and buy the vacuum bags. It will be a huge pain and no doubt ripoff if you have to go to the dealer's Parts Department to buy bags.

What will a dealer charge for a bag? $19.99 each?

"Noble Gas, you are wrong in all of your thinking which will take some understanding......"

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Because it differs from yours does not make it 'wrong' contiki - err, "Jabba".

Topic: Honda minivan comes with haircut tools.....what do you think of this option....

This 'idea' was an April Fools joke (unbeknownst to contiki-jabba), yet this is also a good idea? ROTFLOL!!!

Too funny.

"I am sure if anyone buys the Honda minivan with this option...they will surely know how to use it and where everything is....."

Honda buyers have ESP? What is wrong with distributing a little bit of information?

"The people who don't care much about Honda will look for fault or see it as something not needed....."

And Honda lovers such as yourself will overlook many things. What is your point? I got nothing against Honda, they make good cars; I almost bought an Odyssey...

"pacecar68, I think it is grat idea for the family............ "

What a aurprise!

"I am sure Honda has thought of all the ways for their product to work properly and be operator friendly......."

Besides this assumption, has anybody seen any real information that can answer the original question ("My questions: how easy is it to gain access to the bag where the vacuumed-up debris ends up, and to get replacement bags, do you only have the option of going to your Honda dealer to buy them?")? I hope that the assumption made is right, but verification would be cool.

Many cars have two cigarette lighter sockets today as well as USB charging ports. "

Automakers are not putting cigarette lighter sockets in their vehicles anymore, now those sockets are for charging cell phonees etc.........

Not a bad option. Will appeal to people with children. I would rather use my shop vac, but some people do not have them. I could think of other options that would appeal more to me.
