I think electric cars are a waste of time.
I also think that the gas engine has more
than proved itself. Do you want to plug
your in at night, Not everyone has a garage.
Plus in Ohio we have cold winters, also I
drive many miles per day. Plus who wants
to sit in a recharging station.Replacement
batteries will cost a fortune!!

No, most of the electric cars on the market today do not have the range to get me to work, let alone get me back home

Why would electric cars be a waste of time simply because you favor conventional gasoline or diesel fueled internal combustion engines? At one time some people thought automobiles a foolish idea because the horse and buggy was perfectly suitable and adequate.

Please clarify; are you claiming that because the gasoline engine has proved itself, there is no need for improvement? (See horse and buggy statement.)

I don't mind plugging my car in at night because I plug my car in at night to operate its circulating hot water heater when the temperatures are cold -- more than six months a year in Alaska. The time spent plugging a car in during warm months would certainly not exceed the time I spend refueling the vehicle. You say you have cold winters in Ohio. Please explain to this lifelong Alaskan what you mean by that.

You claim to drive many miles a day. I understand that Chevrolet Volt can go 300 miles without stopping to refuel or recharge. Most electric only vehicles can go about 100 miles without recharging. So what do you claim is the problem? In Fairbanks Alaska, electrical outlets are commonly available to serve each parking spot at hotels and office buildings. The workers of Fairbanks routinely plug-in their car to keep them warm when the temperature is below -10°F (100 days per year). The cost of recharging electric automobiles is not significant, nor is the cost of installing outlets at each parking spot.

Electric vehicle battery packages are quite costly now, but the manufacturing costs and retail prices are dropping every month. Have you looked at the terms of purchase or warranties on electric vehicle battery packs?

If one does a proper Lifecycle Cost Analysis, the results will be surprising when comparing electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and conventional vehicles. "Try it, you might like it."
