I use both summer and winter to keep the mats cleaner. I took the winter out over one summer and the floor mats got pretty dirty so now I leave winter mats in all year.

After market rubber on top of the stock carpets and stock mats it really helps to keep the car clean and dry and it is less noisy.

Both

Most came with carpet, some came with both, but you had to remove the carpeted mats to install the heavy duty rubber ones.

Got a set of WeatherTechs for the truck. Well worth the price.

Hi contiki,

As you've probably read, I've purchased two vehicles in the past month. The Mazda dealer provided a generic set for my wife's 2011 Toyota Matrix, but they didn't anchor to the floor and crept up to the gas pedal (e.g. memories of runaway Toyota's). I just received a full set ordered on line which are custom made in the USA. They do have the nylon anchors for the driver's side and are really nice. They are carpeted.

I also ordered another set for my 2010 Ford Ranger XL which has a rubber mat, no carpeting. They fit perfectly. They also are 46 oz carpeted.

These floor mats are about 50% cheaper than the dealer's price and are sold without shipping charges. Great deals.

I do have a portable steam vacuum and bring them in the house every so often to clean them so they always look and smell new.

Take care :-). MGY

Both my vehicles came with carpet fllor mats, but I bought some Weathertech rubber mats for each, and they are GREAT. They wear like iron.

Houckster says " I have rubber floor mats. Carpet holds dirt and debris much more readily and is therefore more difficult to clean. I prefer function over style when it comes to a floor mat. "

I know why my carpeted mats are all clean and in my basement looking like new because I think the same as Houckster about using rubber mats rather then carpet...........
