Do your pets hang out the window when you drive down the street?

My cat looooves car rides, but I generally roll the window up far enough to make jumping out impossible.

Last time I had Rocky with the windows open, he jumped out! Fortunately, he jumped out on the shoulder!

"Let's look at this objectively -- an unrestrained pet in your car is just as dangerous and just as likely to be hurt should an accident occur as an unrestrained child. If you "really" love your pet as much as you claim to, purchase a restraint harness for them before they become a flying missile ejected through the windshield in a crash, or flung from the car in a rollover ..."

Sadly, I rarely see pets restrained in vehicles. I can visualize an 80# dog flying through the air and hitting the driver in the back of the head causing an accident or loss of control of the vehicle making the accident more severe.

I don't allow mine to hang out the window, but they do get up to the window and look out, or they get in the middle of the back seat so they can see straight ahead between the two front seats.

My Jack Russell does when I lower the window slightly, but he gets tired of it after a while and stays next to me. If my wife is in the car he rides in the center on top of the console keeping a close eye on everything.

I don't open the window that far. I don't want them getting excited and deciding to jump out.

Just don't put your pet on your lap while you drive.

It's "Impeded Operation," and not only puts you (and your dog) at risk, but can get you a ticket.

No. I don't want my dog to get hit by flying debris. She sits in the back seat with a restraint harness and the window no more than 1/2 way down. Think about this....you ever have a stone come flying through the air and hit your windshield or sheet metal while driving? What if that hit your dog?
