I warned motorists of this radar by flashing my lights at them ahead of the time they would see the radar.........

It depends on the location. Some places, people need to slow down where there are dangerous areas, and there are places where the speed limit is to low and the police is just out to give tickets.

dontuknowOH, interesting posting...

I agree with some of your points of interests example of todays trends are about distractions, are often still errors, if timing is involved to make a quick correction, attitudes can't often be corrected quickly.

I think driver traction is the worst on the roads, more than speeding....

I was rear ended by a chick boo texting on her phone....

She hit me hard enough in the backend of my car that both the air bags on her Pontiac AM when off.............

contiki; You are right about the speed factor not always being the cause of accidents. I believe that it is poor driver judge-decisions along with a reduced time interval, reduced separation distance, and each drivers attitude.

How does one control the attitude of another motorist at any speed? Those vehicles in the wrecking yards, like You mentioned are not all there caused by a speeding circumstance. The ones torn in half, with not much left soon are baled, crunched, and have a short stay.

Seems everyone errors at some time or other, I've been there and am capable, have a very few scares to refer to. Speed most of that time didn't have anything to do with My errors or happenings.

Todays trends are about distractions, are often still errors, if timing is involved to make a quick correction, attitudes can't often be corrected quickly.

The main thing I have found out driving, one never has control of the other drivers ability to correct their errors, or tame them down with their own driving habits. Maybe for a few minutes the assumed speeding thing.

When there is any type of assumed speeding going on, there always seems to be at least one, two, often three, that want to be the up front leader, then guess what? Your claim is to help tame those with minor speeding habits, but won't that help the want-a-be Leaders be more of a danger in motion? Possible Danger for All in motion or not (others).

Some of those vehicles in the yards seen were actually in a stop motion, side- slammed, and rear-enders like severe! HAGDay...

Me too and I have a particular way I do it. I only do it to let truckers or cars/trailers or big campers know that they can go back in front of me when they pass me. I do 1 long and 2 short blinks of the headlight, day or night and most of the time they appreciate it and they blink back to me to let me know they are saying Thank You ...

runner1256 says "I have to admit, though, how tempting it is, that when it is really within a safe range to do, that I would like to do it to help another driver."

Now you know how I feel about helping another driver out......

dontuknowOH, by the way being a few miles over speed limit really doesn't cause wrecking yards to be full of disasters if any..........

Those are the motorists I help.............

High speed driving might cause disasters that you mention but being a few miles over the limit you will hardy see any disasters for sure...........

No, because when in My early "20's" I frequented many auto wrecking yards, mainly hunting for used parts, saw a lot of disaster messes left their inside, many vehicles. Paid for the parts and tried to forget other sights stuck with My memory, some very gory!

Radar units aren't out there to sponsor your vehicle to a wrecking yard plot, but to collect money funds for the living. AIsi.... Stay Safe/Happy.

I used to do this, along with my x husband, but since have realized that it is against the law. I do NOT want to get a ticket for doing that. I have to admit, though, how tempting it is, that when it is really within a safe range to do, that I would like to do it to help another driver. Sooooo.. perhaps if it's really really safe to do.

My car has a warning that tells me if I'm speeding. I have a GPS that does also.
I have a radar detector that tells me if there's Police "Radar" ahead.
If everyone uses the various methods of protection then you don't have to depend on others and chances are you won't get caught speeding.
So no I don't always signal others...It's amazing how many people don't have radar detectors.

Exception to warnings might be 18 wheelers.
