YES, and I hate them. When my car was stored for the winter I could suspend
the coverage, except for comprehensive. Now they prohibit you from suspending
it. My car was being restored for almost four years and I still had to pay the for full coverage.

I use State Farm. I've been satisfied with them. Had them for 20 years or more.

Just wait until you have a couple of renewals... you won't be saving anything.

>State Farm is a crock.

And would you believe State Farm loses money on their underwriting operations? It's all in that little statement of operating condition that nobody can figure out except investment geeks. Their profits (such as they are, they're a dividend-paying mutual) come from investment income on their statutory reserves.

GEICO is cheap, all right. Cheap enough that you look at Berkshire Hathaway's balance sheet and wonder how they manage to stay in business. The only thing I can think of is they have some VERY sharp underwriting algorithms.

I had State Farm for about 20 years without a claim. Then, I was rear-ended by a drunk driver who severely damaged my Toyota Avalon. And, my lower back was injured. State Farm did not want to pay anything for the diminished value of the vehicle and nickel and dimed me for the repairs that were made. They refused to pay the personal injury claim. I ended up having to sue them to finally get paid. After that was over, I dropped State Farm and switched to Geico. I saved over $400/year by switching -- and that was with premiums which supposedly were reduced because I had been a State Farm customer for 2 decades. State Farm is a crock.
