One of my biggest pet peeves though is unnecessary braking and tailgating.

Another technique not used by many, but some is, accelerating just up to your rear bumper, dropping back and repeating the action over again. This also falls in line with tailgating which distracts you on a ongoing basis (e.g. how close the car is behind you versus what is ahead of you).
