As a passenger, I would ask/demand the driver stop texting and concentrate on driving.

If that didn't work, I'd take the phone away and tell them they can get it back when we've arrived at our destination.

If they continued, I'd pull over and explain that texting on an ongoing non-stop basis compromised my concentration and we would go no further until the phone was turned off. Yes, the incoming beep then another and another and another indicating a new message just came in would necessitate the phone be turned off. No other option!
