do people still connect the last part incorrectly?

they hook up the black jumper cable to the battery terminal when all of the instructions say to connect it to engine ground of the dead car

Sorry to say, no. I'd rather have them spend $50 for a service call than for me to spend $1,500 for a burned out computer. I know, I know, if you do it right you won't have a problem but why take a chance.

For sure, but only if I set it up. Have been doing this for 30+ years and never backwards or shorted to ground.

I have refused once I gander at under their hood conditions, I don't always carry my jump kit box, <<< it makes a safer jump without any other percussions.

I still have 16" heavy cables, use them at times, most battery stranded individuals don't want to wait for the time element to build up their own disabled battery minor/minimum charge capacity.

That makes a more successful jump start event and reducing any extra risk of damage happening. Like starter lock-up, un-necessary sparking of cable connections(the wiggling stuff) and often no eye protection used.

Saying many crazy conditions can exist under the disabled vehicle some simple some dangerous that prevent a vehicle from starting and causing an almost dead battery condition.

Often its just the driver's forgetful errors...... = simple jump! The traffic can be more dangerous..... ! ! ! Often!
