The most effective speed limiting device I have seen lately is the radar-controlled electronic sign. It flashes when you are 10kph over the limit, and posts your speed, adjusting as you do. Most people adjust. Now this is the kind of automated radar I have no problem with.

Very few of thoise around where I live. I live in an area full of speed cameras. No warnings - just photo citations.

Maybe if they had a large sign to view "SP..Photos being taken" plus a random strobe flash behind sign for a rearview mirror affect. None in our area.

they recently put one near a school-zone & it does help both the driver & the cop around the corner to give out a ticket if he / she keeps going over the speed limit!

There are several on trailers that they move into school zones. There is a volunteer crew of concerned parents in viz-vests and hardhats milling around each one. All this makes a point.

Good Morning yodudbc. We have one mobile radar electronic sign in a small town eleven miles for my home. It is moved around to advise people the speed limit is 30 or 35 MPH. It is for informational purposes only. Take care :-). MGY

Yes, but they're more of a vivsual feedback for the driver than an automatic citation device.

Periodically these things are sitting around at various locations, but no one really pays them any attention. Most people see how fast they can run through them.

People in Massachusetts ignore them. The only thing which really slows people down is blue lights and a citation book.

No, not in my area, but there are a few, a good distance from where I live, but not like the one you have stated. There are some that lets you see the speed you are doing as you get near it.

To be technical, there aren't actually any "radar-controlled" electronic signs. However, there are devices that use remote mounted radar units to detect and display speeds called Radar Speed Signs.

But yes, I agree to a point. It would be better if an actual officer was there.
