I used to have them. I recently went to by some more, but the department store I went to (WalMart) only sold a huge kit, which had substandard ones, plus everything else I did not need, like jumper cables and a small wrench.

For triangles I want one that are US DOT wind-rated for 40 or 50 mph. I used to have cheap plastic ones I bought for a few dollars, but those would have blown away awfully fast.

Hello (again) mileena202,

I did an edit on my previous post and for some reason it dropped the word "no". The sentence should read "Since both of these items are LED technology, they are bright and consume little or "NO" vehicle battery power (the 4-way flashers would still use the vehicle's conventional lighting).

Another reason for a second post is to warn anyone who uses flares to be aware of the presence of gasoline. I once witnessed an accident where the vehicle flipped over and was pouring gasoline on the street. A person who was trying to be helpful began to light a flare, but I and a police officer yelled "No". Most new vehicles with electric fuel pumps have a safety inertia switch. If the vehicle is involved in a serious accident, the fuel pump is immediately turned off. As an owner of a newer vehicle, it would be prudent to find where that switch is located so if the damage is not severe, the vehicle can be restarted and driven.

Take Care :-). MGY

Good Morning mileena202,

I'm going to stray a bit from your topic by identifying two products which actually make a stranded vehicle more visible.

I bought a new product for my family's vehicles which is a 12 LED triangle that flashes (it also can stay on constantly) and is placed anywhere in or on the rear of the vehicle. It is battery powered and sells for less than $5.00.

The second item has been available for years for vehicles that can tow and have a 3" receiver. It is a 12 LED brake light assembly which fits into the receiver and is wired to the trailer connector. If the turn signals are used or the 4-way flashers, it also flashes.

Since both of these items are LED technology, they are bright and consume little or vehicle battery power (the 4-way flashers would still use the vehicle's conventional lighting).

Both of these items are great Christmas stocking stuffers and could prevent a rear-end collision to a vehicle.

Take Care :-). MGY

Since retiring, no need for that stuff. Always drive a newer vehicle with breakdown coverage.

Flared jeans are way out of style and I haven't played the triangle since grade school.
