The "very thin red sidewall" tires plus ones with blue instead of read were our biggest sellers for the younger drivers and the hot cars of the 1960s. I remember we kept them in stock due to their popularity. The price was $99.00 each. I haven't seen those in years either. I also owned a 1984 Grande Marquis LS (fully loaded) with a "wider than normal whitewalls". The Lincoln Town Car of that year had those style (not brand) whitewalls. I was visiting my parents in Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Day. Businesses were not open back then on Thanksgiving Day and I ruined one of those tires on I-81. I changed the spare and stopped at the next exit at a small Texaco station. Would you believe it was open and the man working had a friend with a brand new replacement tire (a spare from his Lincoln). The man brought it down to the station. Texaco mounted balanced and changed the tire in 55 minutes. They only charged me $50 for everything. Yes, there are good people in the world :-) .
