If you have a spare tire stored under your vehicle ... How often do you drop it down and clean the linkage?

i don't like those dangling tires; i prefer them inside the trunk protected from the elements

rarely clean the linkage; most of them are stainless steel cables

It should be more often. Took me quite a while and a lot of WD-40 to get the linkage to lower.

>>How often do you drop it down and clean the linkage?<<

By linkage I assume you mean the mechanism that raises and lowers the tire?

On the two Fords I owned that used this type of spare tire storage, the cable mechanism required no cleaning or lubrication and showed no signs of corrosion. The actual tire was a different story.
