Since the Ford Crown Vic went out of production we are starting to see all kinds of new squad cars.

Crown Vic was the perennial favorite but I quickly learned to like the Charger. Stinking Charger is wicked scary fast and handles like it is on rails. Interior is a little tight once you have all your bat gear on but it has a "cockpit" feel to it.

Some police have unmarked cars that really don't look like police cars.

I passed a black Ford GT supercar in Burleson TX a couple of years ago. It was a Texas DPS Trooper car. That has to be the sweetest cop car I've ever seen!

DasAuto92--
The light bar is aftermarket, chosen by the agency's command (and purchasing department, I guess). Then it's installed. There are all sorts of lightbar configurations from various manufacturers. So what's impressing you is not Chrysler/Dodge,but the agency's selection.
Here's hoping you don't "enjoy" them as you're being pulled over!

The only + i will give to the Charger is the the light show, when they pull you over.Love that back flashing red light, with the added blue/red inserts where the reverse lights are.And in the back window.Disco fever lol.

dasauto92 -- good points. They're always cramming more equipment in. You also need a trunk, especially rural deputies and state troopers, for more gear. And Boston puts a hard partition between the seats (to contain combative prisoners). That takes up more room.
Crown Vic, all the way.

I'd have to go with the Charger and a Hemi motor. Unless Ford comes out with an SHO Interceptor package. Even with a V-6, the Charger has a lot of ooomph.

I read an article about the Crown Vic vs Charger. The Crown Vic was the choice. For one and i guess traffic cop can attest to this is that the Vic gives more room up front. The charger is not a wide vehicle and with the comp table and light box everything is cramped up.So your driving solo. Having owned a Crown Vic Police Interceptor, they are fast.I was able to spin the tires (posi) from a stand still and also when it shifted gears.

I'll stick with the Crown Vic. Boston is keeping them for a while yet.
We once had a Corvette, painted in blue and white, with BPD insignia, blue lights, the works. It was from a drug confiscation situation, and used for publicity. Lots of fun.
I've seen an Indiana trooper in an unmarked Mustang (concealed lights).
