I did, however, see plenty of police cars in several states while driving to another state and back this past weekend. I learned that police in some jurisdictions may primarily use blue emergency lights (no red lights), whereas police here in NJ tend to use red and white as well. It was a bit confusing at first since in NJ qualified volunteers can use blue lights in their personally owned vehicles during emergencies, but I figured the lights in that other state were a bit too ostentatious to be anything other than those for dedicated police cars. Ironically enough, I saw the most police cars once I returned to my town in NJ, as they had blocked off part of a major local road for some reason. There were numerous police cars and fire trucks present, though I couldn't spot any apparent emergency, which suggests that it might have been some sort of drill.

He picked on a GLK SUV a quarter mile behind me (saw that in the mirror).

At least one, but often as many as half a dozen, are typically in the general vicinity of my employer . . . and then there are sheriff's cars . . . I work @ the Civic Center, hence the high rate of police cars. ;)
