i have a 1989 nissan 240sx with no remote transmitter, so I open the doors with my key all the time...

BUT,

my newer 2002 quest minivan has a remote & I can't think of when I used the key to the lock cylinders on the front doors or trunk!

-------------------

basically, a reminder to lubricate them with graphite lube and "excersise" the lock cylinders with my key this spring... in case the remote's batteries die out

I'm extremely uneasy not even having a key. No way to unlock or lock if key fob fails. I hate this, yet so far so good.

With my own car I never use the key. Some of the vehicles I get at work however either do not have a remote or they do not work.

On some cars you do not even get a key. We have a few Altimas in our fleet that there is no key for.

About an hour ago. Even if I had the option I would disable it. Too risky.

My remote died a long time ago. Replacing the battery did not help. Buying a new remote costs more than a monthly car payment. When I lived in icky weather and when I had young children, the remote was worth it. I've been using a key for about 5 years now.

My daily driver has a fob but I often use the key because I can roll all the windows up/down with the key.
