I've used AMSOIL motor oil for about six years in my 2003 Elantra. Not sure if my gas millage is any better because I switched over when I got the car new. I get an average of 26.6 MPG. I have been thinking about using other products from AMSOIL, like the air cleaner, oil filter, and grease for the joints. AMSOIL has been around for a long time. Any thoughts?

"Synthetic" is not a performance specification. Superior motor oils can be manufactured by synthetic means but just because synthetic means was used is no assurance of a superior product.

nope. I used regular non-synthetic for over 25yrs and 235K miles on my toyota before I junked it. I highly doubt synthetic would have made any difference other than denting my wallet more.

Yes. Been using Mobil 1. Costs a bit more, but I feel like I have slightly better mileage... Mostly I don't feel like I have to replace it quite as often. Even though many manufacturers say 4 or 5K now, I don't quite trust conventional oils that long.

Very few people use a true synthetic lubricant. Most oil marketers sell pretend "synthetics" made from mostly or entirely from Group III petroleum.

Some of the pretenders include products from Exxon/Mobil (Mobil 1), Castrol Syntec, and Pennzoil Platinum.

How do you know if the oil someone is trying to sell you is a pretender? Nowhere will you find a declarative statement that the oil is made entirely from Group IV or V lubricants. To obscure this fact, the advertising will be filled with hyperbole.

True synthetic lubricants do not have petroleum in them. Some examples are Synlube, Amsoil Signature and Redline.
