I know I do. I change the oil of both my truck and my wife's car every 3000 miles, rotate the tires every other change oil, check the brake pads, drive belts, air filter, etc everytime I get down and dirty. Also I change my engine coolant once a year preferably before summer. A lot of work, but a lot of savings in the long run....

Yes. I got tired of the hight prices at the quick lube shops. I paid $50 for ramps to raise the front end of my cars--ramps already paid for themselves. I pay a lot less on line or at local store for synthetic and filters, and I get the work done in less than an hour. Takes the same amount of time as a shop and costs less.

I used to, years ago. Its just not worth it anymore. I used to buy the oil and the filter and then slide under the parked car and pull the drain plug. I would take the used oil to the local gas station and they would put it in their recycle tank, and thank me.

Now, they charge you a recycling fee, which is high enough to make any possible savings disappear. Also, today`s cars are lower, and I can`t slide under them anymore.

Last weekend, I changed the oil and filter in my wife's 2011 Toyota Matrix. This week I'll be changing my Honda chipper/shredder (every 25 hours) and my Cub Cadet lawn tractor. The plan for this weekend is my 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. Gee, the oil companies must love me :-)! No, seriously, I am firm believer in taking care of my equipment due to the high initial purchase prices and the fact they last much longer with fewer problems.

every 3k mile oil change is a thing of the past... better oil filters and more refined oil can stretch your intervals to 5k for the regular oil, 15k or a year for the synthetic oil

i do mostly all of the maintenance on the vehicle except for timing belt or any internal engine repair
