A nice assortment of Tri-Five Chevies, including the following I recognized:

'56 Bel Air Sport Coupe; India Ivory over Dusk Plum

'55 210 2-dor sedan; restomodded dark blue

1957 Bel Air Sport Coupe; Solid India Ivory...

plus a late '60s Avanti (not sure if it was a Studebaker or an Avanti II because I didn't see identification); that was red...

and a '65 Ford Falcon Deluxe 4-door station wagon; Raven Black with a red "Futura" side stripe. IMHO, that Falcon caught my eye first and fastest because ya just don't see Falcon station wagons on the road these days!

All in Granite City, IL....

Classic truck day today:

1963 Ford F-350 flatbed (as in "It's a girl, my Lord, in a..." minus the girl)...Corinthian White, drivin' along a service road paralleling Interstate 55 near Ste. Genevieve, MO and...

1966 Chevrolet C-10 short-bed stepside pickup; white over red...in Cape Girardeau, MO

@CivicCub: Amen, bro' on those big-@$$ 22" rims on that '63 Catalina! Ya need a foxtrottin' stepladder to climb into one of those rides!

If you're gonna dude up a car, do it right...

like a 1952 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe 2-door sport coupe (club coupe); purple and silver with gold accents; mag wheels, but they actually fit the openings and, with the body lowered slightly, looked freakin' awesome. The Chevy was spotted this morning in Granite City, IL.

This afternoon a 1963 Pontiac Catalina 4 door on Kirkwood Hwy in Wilm, DE. Med green exterior with green interior, in great shape. Not a show car but good cond. for it's age. One drawback, it had big @$$ 22" rims on it and it made it look DUMB!

Light blue 1968 Chevelle SS396 yesterday afternoon on West Main Street in Meriden, CT. It is unusual
to see someone's pride and joy on the street at this time of year, but the pavement was dry yesterday.

Cool! Station wagons of any type ar rare to find these days!

Street rods seemed to be on my radar today...

1953 Chevy 210 4-door sedan; repainted 1966 Chevy Marina Blue and minus most of its chrome; in Granite City, IL

1938 Ford 1/2-ton pickup; basic black but also rodded; also in Granite City, IL

Also a 1965 Chevrolet Impala 4-door eedan; light metallic green (and, seeming to deteriorate the more I sse it; sad because it is still in surprisingly good shape and would make a great example of a Darrin Stephens type of family car). Also in Granite City, IL

Yesterday I was behind a full size 1965 Pontiac Safari station wagon, waiting for
a light to change at an entrance ramp to I-691 in Meriden, CT. The size of the car
seemed completely out of place among the surrounding SUVs and Honda Civics.
The car was clean, shiny, and straight. It looked stock, but was very fast as I was not able to
get alongside for a better view once on I-691. It also did not have an antique registration
plate, so for me this qualifies as one of the most unexpected old car sightings of 2014.

This could be for "the most recent pre-1940 vehicle you saw on the street," because all three vehicles I saw today are no newer than 1939!

1927 Ford Model T runabout with a custom boat-tail speedster body (now it could have been a '28 or '29 Model A, but I know boat-tails were more common on the T chassis, so this is an educated guess!);

1931 Chevrolet International series 1 1/2-ton flatbed-stake truck; restored by a local Coors beer distributor and on display at the 75th-anniversary celebration of the St. Louis-based Schnucks supermarket chain, along with;

1939 Chevrolet 1/2-ton pickup; resto-mod in red with black fenders, powered by a more-recent Chevy 230 six-cylinder and a Powerglide transmission, but was attractive and not unlike the truck the Schncks family may have used at their first store 75 years ago!
