This may be a bit of a round-about boycott but I am boycotting Safeway and Safeway gas for consumer reasons. Safeway, which is a member of the Grocery Manufacturer's Association, has decided that Americans do not have the right to know if their food contains GMO or not and has accordingly contributed a lot of money to fight ballot initiatives in California and Washington state to deny Americans the right to know and choose.

Until Safeway decides that we have the right to know and they fight for our right,I will boycott Safeway and Safeway Gas.

Yes. I have emailed Safeway to tell them why I am choosing to boycott them. I never got a reply from them, though.

Does that mean I have to wait until they build one within 500 miles of me to participate? Or can I just say I'm participating because it'll cost me almost 2 tanks of gas each way just to fill up?

Not trying to be naive because you have your own reasons for boycotting Safeway and you have a goal that you want Safeway to meet before you end your boycott, but have you told Safeway that you're boycotting them and what you want them to do in order for you to end your boycott?

If you don't tell them what you want them to do in order for your to stop your boycott, they may do a hundred things but never get around to doing the right thing (in your view). And, if you don't tell them you're boycotting them, it's even more difficult for them to respond to your wishes.

The bottom line, as originally said, is, have you told Safeway about your boycott, or are you just letting a lot of Gas Buddy members across the United States and Canada know you, one anonymous Gas Buddy member from the Chico area, is boycotting Safeway?
