Like, should we boycott our tax-dollars going to pay for our elected officials to run back and forth to Washington if they cannot come up with better solutions to stop the high prices of gas and or our on the payroll for the oil companies?

Hank,

Would love to hear some "better solutions". Can you give us some ideas? Ones that take into account that 1. Crude is auctioned off in a worldwide market 2. Refiners are clearing about a dime a gallon on gas in the US 3. Retailers clear a penny or two per gallon after cost 4. Taxes add about 60 cents per gallon in a typical state.

Thanks.

Can you explain what you mean by "our elected officials" are "being paid in gas"?

And, are you suggesting that your officials stay in Washington and not interact with the people of Alabama (as well as other constituencies)?

As for "stop the high price" solutions, what ideas are you suggesting? Are you suggesting that the government "cap" the price of gas at the pump despite what the world market price may be? Or do you have other ideas for your elected officials?

As for their being "on the payroll for the oil companies", I won't dispute that the oil industry's lobbyists aren't effective, nor will I dispute parts of the oil industry supporting certain candidates, but can you give any examples of your elected officials (even just for Alabama) being "on the payroll of the oil companies"?

As for "should we boycott our tax-dollars going to pay for...", are you suggesting that people not pay their taxes? Or pay their taxes but not pay what they believe is being used for Congressional salaries? Sorry, but I don't understand your "boycott". At least not the way you wrote your suggestion.
