Not only are their prices higher than everyone else, but now they've started pushing the policy of a $10 minimum to use your credit card inside the store. Today I spent $40 at the pump and went in to spend $5 more and got was refused unless I spent $10. It didn't matter to the clerk that I'd just spent $40 at their station.

I've heard ALL the reasons why merchants refuse this or that, or insist on minimums, where cards are concerned. It's ridiculous.

Personally, I've spent my last dime there.

If you want to put some work into it, find out what processing company the station works with.

Contact them as well as your card issuer (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). Visa, Mastercard, and Amex all have policies that there can be no set "minimums" on purchases. Most card processors have the same rules.

But, individual stations (or anywhere that accepts cards) can (essentially against the card's policy) place a spending limit. If they do, turn them in. Not much will happen, probably, but the irritation might make them think about dropping the policy.

I once spent 98 cents on my credit card. I had no cash. I was thirsty.

This topic has what to do with Boycotts or Gasouts?

Outside of your local area, I doubt if members throughout the rest of the US and Canada are really interested in that local station. The topic should be in your local message board where others might be able to comment.

We don't care. I don't know why you thought a national audience would. Go post this in the San Bernardino local discussion forum and maybe someone there will care. And welcome to the 1/120 Club(tm).

You joined this site to post this? If you know this station operates this way, why do you go there? And requiring a minimum purchase is usually a violation of the merchants credit card agreement and can result in losing the ability to accept cards.
