First of the month...and every 2nd week pay cycle, the price goes up in central Indiana. following that, ebbs slowly back for a week, to ten days, unless a holiday is approaching. I won't go near a gas station from the last of one month, to the 4th or 5th of the following. I drive a little car, and the difference to fill would usually be $2.00 to $4.00 (if near empty)but will not give the difference to anybody, having seen this pattern (punishing the masses) for many years now. Pop a few bucks in between, and over the course of avoiding peak sales periods, you'll save about 15% avg. to your driving.

I agree and it would help out more if more people would help instead of harping about this price or that one. Actions speak louder than words, words are suppose to help us make a plan of action.!:)

pays to know the cycle of local economics that's a fact... prices here slowly falling, and while they fall I fill up at half a tank... when they're rising I fill and ride it out.... often can get thru the hike and not need a fillup til it's back on the down side... not always but often...

My husband drives back and forth from TN to IN a lot. He has told me the same thing! Perhaps gas at $4.00/gal between then and now has resulted in him losing his internet AND smart phone so he can not respond?

People:

The member starting this topic has made only one action on Gas Buddy and that was starting this topic nearly two months ago. He hasn't posted gas prices and he hasn't come back to the thread he started to acknowledge anyone's responses to the issue.

There's not much sense in responding to him because it's not as if he were paying attention to what you're saying. This topic should be closed.

Dealers make about a dime per gallon before expenses.
Refiners clear a dime per gallon after expenses.
In Indiana the gas tax (federal of 18.4 plus state tax) is 61.4 cents per gallon.
So who is gouging here?

The same thing happens in Kentucky, especially around gougeville Lexington.
Gas will be .40 cents higher here than anywhere else around at all times.

What do you expect is causing this rise and fall?

When are the social security and (dare I say it) welfare checks being mailed?

Is there something else?

Sounds about right. That is supply and demand at its finest.

You took the time to join this site to post that! And some wonder why I think there should be a threshold for new members to achieve before they are allowed to start topics!

Thank you for joining the site to make this one post. Maybe you could post some prices to help your fellow drivers in Indiana find the cheapest prices and avoid the "gouge by any other name..."

This may offer some explanation.

Summer gas is more expensive, as additional chemicals must be blended into the mix to reduce ozone formation. How could additional additives be cheaper?
Demand rises considerably in the summer too.

Isn't the 'Summer gas blend' supposed to be cheaper? Our gas prices went up in Central IL. this week .65/gal in 2 days!!!! I remember a couple of years ago the price of crude was around $140/barrel....it was then we paid over $4/gal. Crude is $97/barrel today! what gives??

Sounds more like supply and demand at work to me.
