Great Lakes region, we should be boycotting SPEEDWAY/Marathon. They are incontrol of this region. Price jumps for no reasons. They used the "SUMMER BLEND" back in Jan. Now Again!! Get Real! Buy your .99 coffee at MC D's.

Look up the term "fungible commodity" and you'll (maybe) see why it will never work. If you boycott one station, the "boycotted" gas will just get sold to another station.

IMO i think a boycott would work if everyone on gas buddies boycotted a certain station. For example boycott the Chevron at X location for a day or week.

You could have ended your post with the word 'time' and it would have been accurate. But then you had to go and tack on that nonsense on the end. Please read this carefully, Gashog200910. Gas boycotts, especially ones that are supposed to occur on a specific day, weekend, whatever, are doomed to failure from the start. Want to cut gas prices? Cut usage. Don't believe me? Scroll through the many, many pages of Boycott threads and see how many times this "idea" has been shot down by logic and reason.

No, gashog, it is not because everyone forgets the boycott day. It is because no one is buying less.
Look at it this way - if you got half your pay a day early, and half a day late, would you care? Would it make you agree to take a pay cut to get all your pay on the same day?

I am not sure scoutmaster. I think it depends if you intentionally did not buy gas or simply forgot to buy gas.

I'm sorry, but the post makes no sense.
You're saying that a boycott of the oil industry, not buying gas on one certain day, won't work because people will forget the day the of the boycott and inadvertently or "accidently" buy gas on the boycott day? That's why a boycott to not buy gas on one certain day won't work? Like forgetting to buy an anniversary or birthday gift?
You really believe that?
You don't think it has anything to do with your not buying gas every day to begin with, and that if you don't buy gas today (the boycott day) that you would have either filled up yesterday or have enough gas that you can wait and fill up tomorrow?
You really think that "Oh, my god. I forgot yesterday was the boycott gas day and I filled up my..." is why a gas boycott won't work? Amazing. Simply amazing.
