Swifty stations in Indianapolis post an attractive price on their marquis, but that price is only good at some of their pumps. You need to chech the price at the pump you are using. I asked several customers using the higher price pumps if they knew what they just paid for gas and they all said they paid the advertised low price. They were mistaken and surprised. Some even quite angry. One gal said she would never stop at another swifty station. This is my response also.

Or any other type of price differential, and the price conditions are in very small letters (not readable).

We have a Chevron that does that around my area. Annoying.

doesn't paying the extra for the car wash negate the cost of gas? Seems to me it does. I wait for the rain and jump out there and wash. Free water.

Aurevoir you are reporting the prices just as they should be. The price without a car wash price is correct.

I report actual gas prices without car wash deductions. I added in comments as well but it doesn't help!

I've never been to a gas station with a separate car wash price.

I agree with 1oilman, buying from your local gas stations keeps sales taxes locally and keeps businesses running in your community. If your local gas pumper is gouging then go to the next pump in your town. That way his competitor will force the gouger's prices to go down. Yelping, blogging, etc social media can send a reality check to the gouger.

This sounds like something you might want to contact a local government official to look into.
Sadly (and I don't like more laws, because, if you really think about it, laws are written for people who don't have enough sense to not do what the law mandates), people will take advantage of other people.

First, please use spell check and proofread your work before you submit it.
Second, if you don't like some place, don't go there. Find a local station that has a fair price and good service then patronize them.

Why not just buy at a location that is near your home, treats you well and has a fair price? No stress and is good for your community. Any "extra" cost is minimal if at all over time.

This is one of the many low tricks gas stations will do. Anyone else ever thought about that you're paying 9/10ths of a cent more than the posted price appears to you?

I agree it takes a second glance to realise. A local station near me posts the car wash price with writing the top that says "with car wash", something they added on after getting lots of complaints probably. I feel sorry for the guy working there, he must get a lot of flack.
The car wash is $10. Ok if you're going to wash it, but I always wash it myself anyway so I'm never going to stop there.

Wrong category.
Can't say I have ever been mislead or fooled by prices like that, even in a strange town.
There is another topic similar to this however where you can discuss your dilemma.
Watch for that gas/with carwash price at the top of there sign

You have made 5 posts since joining this month, but where are the gas prices? You see a difference in prices, then help your fellow gasbuddies and post them. That is the what this site is all about. Hope you enjoy all the benefits of the site :)

It's not bait and switch; bait is you go in for one thing and they try to sell you an upgrade saying "we don't have the other...the other;s not really any good" to get you in the store. For the most part, the "car wash" signs I've seen have always been clearly marked.
But you're saying that we should boycott these stations?

Why not go ahead and get a wash while you are there? Just saying.
