How about knowing what % of oil comes from which countries? I mainly boycott Exon/Mobil because they are the largest and usually the most expensive. I would prefer to spend my gas money with companies that support anyone but the middle east.

We could dye it green if that makes you feel better. At least you wouldn't have to be afraid.

I am for using all the sources we have that are proven and NOT using taxpayer dollars to fund research for alternate fuels. If it makes sense, private companies will spend the dollars to produce it

There is nothing wrong with researching alternative energy, and if there is a development that makes economic sense then someone will produce it. But throwing our kids money at campaign contributors and calling it "green investment" is a crime.

Gas Buddy, you are SOOOO right!
Until there is a viable, proven, affordable solution, we have to make the best of what we've got - whether that be oil, coal, or whatever.
Boycotting any of these (that is the topic of this category, after all!) is crazy at this point. You can stop using oil, but that means no gas for your car or lawnmower, no plastics, nothing from oil at all. There's too much that uses oil to not use it at all.
Fund research into the "next big thing," but understanding using today's technology is necessary until that next big thing works!

mia8888: Not sure this belongs in the boycott category. Are you suggesting that we boycott oil and green energy? What would you suggest to replace them.

mia8888:
If you think it's slavery, then stop using oil. Use alternate fuel; use alternate transportation if that's your concern. But no one is forcing you to use any more oil than necessary, if that much.
If you think "we need green", and you don't want electric, then what do you want? What do YOU suggest as a green alternative?
But, if you think that using an alternative will create problems, then maybe you're better off with what's been proven a reliable and relatively inexpensive solution, called oil and gas or diesel. While you might not like the price, it's not much more a portion of your income than it's been for years, if not for decades.
But, don't you think you might want to add a little more to your original post to make have some value or substance?
