I won't buy Citgo until I know they've had an authentically free election.
And one that was not monitored or approved by some brain-dead Kennedy or Jimmy Carter, either!

Yes, I think most of us GB folks are (metaphorically) dancing on El Comandante's grave - but what comes after remains to be seen. I don't know if I'm quite ready to fill up at a Citgo, but I may try some of that Chuau chocolate.

Citgo is the most expensive gas in my town. In general, the gas tends to be priced higher than other brands. Must be the extra "stuff" in it!

I've boycotted them for years. Three years ago one station nearby turned into a Sunoco station. The only one left within a five mile radius persists but cannot last much longer. That joker is only doing convenience store business and is in a higher crime area. I rarely see anyone at the pumps.

I avoid citco and BP ARCO. Citco because of Chavez and BP because of their arrogance in causeing the oil spill. I will probably add shell to my list since they beached a rig trying to move it in a storm to avoid taxes in Alaska.

I boycott Citgo also. If an evil dictator wants to badmouth one of his country's best customers while supporting the enemy, he can do it on his own dime, not mine.

there are CITGOs in NJ -- in fact just got gas at Kingtown Mountain one on Rt46W in Ledgewood for 3.29/gal cash -- cheapest one in area while rest ar in high 3.30s or 3.40s.

We've been boycotting CITGO and sneaky daughter VALERO for many years.
It is fun to see station owners dump those brands!
One more local to go - he has to be losing his shirt with his low prices, but interestingly, customers still avoid his station even with its premium and convenient location.

Plenty of Citgos left around me, not far from Chicago (OP) and definitely in a northern state.

Dang importing oil from a Venesualian-based company sounds expensive and kinda outerspace Star Trek kind of logic.

Citgo left all the northern states because they are Venesualian-based. Hugo Chavez wanted to keep more of the oil for himself and his Cuban friends. He did not like how the US was taxing him, so he pulled the plug except along the southern coast.
All the Citgos disappeared in Cleveland, OH about five years back. Many switched to Valero.

I don't buy at CITGO but not because of boycotting - but because around me they are not the best value unless I want to lug cash around, and even then they are not the best value because my 5% Cash Back beats any cash discount I have seen around here at CITGO.

I've seen no evidence that Citgo is pulling out of this area. Their refinery is about 4 miles from here and is going strong. I have relatives who do some contracting work at the refinery and they haven't mentioned any rumors of it being sold or closed. It would have been helpful if the OP had posted an article from some reputable source. Unless the OP is just making stuff up.

Are they pulling out as a direct reflection of your personal boycott?? Or are the typicl financial woes of the economy forcing them to relocate?? I would think the latter is the answer here. Anyway, why boycott Citgo?? What did the company do to you?
