If you decide to boycott one brand of gasoline which one would that be? My choice would be Citgo because of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

I would boycott Shell. They are owned partially by Arabs, and they get the highest percentage of their crude from the Middle East.

I simply prefer avoiding all station boycotts. I believe I get a greater perception when comparing. Safe travels.

A unified front would be the only way to get a message to the gub'ment about lowering prices. A boycott could work if the Truckers joined in. Once they stop for 10 days, gas prices will drop about 15 cents. Boycotting is the only way anything is going to get done nowadays but everyone have to be committed to the cause. No punking out. We start with Shell, then, Chevron, lastly ARCO.

I agree with Mikeyl. Look for the lowest price and patronize the stations that have the lowest price. The others will get the message or sell less gasoline.

If you think "Big Oil" is making too much money then stop using petroleum products. But, that would mean you would virtually have to stop shopping at any store. For all products are either derived from or transported by petroleum products.

So, lets forget all this boycott stuff and move on to something more useful. Like, posting more prices!

I boycott gas stations all the time... I choose the one with the lowest gas price in the area I am traveling in to fill up.

So, I choose not to fill up at higher-priced stations.

Is that not what we are all on GasBuddy for???

Boycotts do not work. You have to USE less gas to make a difference. Until we are willing to stop driving so much, share rides to work or the store, walk somewhere or ride a bike, make our kids use the bus to get to school, or the public transit ourselves to get to work, nothing will change.

Just curious, other than the fact that they're a british company, why does everyone hate bP so much? Is it because equipment they leased from someone else malfuntioned? Do you choose to hate them more than Exxon/Mobil because more time has passed since the Exxon Valdez spilled all of that oil of the coast of Alaska?

I avoid all the majors if I can. I use FasGas (Parkland Oil), or UFA... We are soon getting CEntex, and I will check them out.

BTW, Mom'sNo1Taxi, Petro-Canada was sold to Suncor (aka Sunoco) a few years back. they only continue it as a separate brand to avoid anti-trust laws.

BP and Exxon/Mobil are at the top of my boycott list. I will buy their gas only if there's no other alternative.

RaceTrac and Speedway are also near the top because they sell generic gasoline that has insufficient detergency to protect engines, especially those with direct injection.

spotterFL says: "My vote: Citgo/aka Petro Express.
The name change to Petro Express was an attempt to fool the people boycotting "Citgo" into thinking it was no longer owned by Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez."

Man, how long do these ignorant stories last?
We showed a LONG time ago, in 2006 as a matter of fact, that Petro Express was not owned by CITGO, ever! And by the way, Hugo Chavez never owned CITGO, it was the Venezuelan national oil company that was the parent of the US-BASED CITGO. Thinking Chavez owned PetrĂ³leos de Venezuela is stupid, it is like thinking he owned Venezuela!
Now as for the stupid assertion that CITGO owned Petro Express, time to be educated!
Petro Express is a privately-owned chain of convenience stores. It is owned by The Pantry, out of Sanford, North Carolina! They WERE RETAILERS of CITGO gasoline, just like thousands of other stations in the US that are not owned by PDVDSA.
Enough of this nonsense, get educated and post truth, not old myths.

My vote: Citgo/aka Petro Express.

The name change to Petro Express was an attempt to fool the people boycotting "Citgo" into thinking it was no longer owned by Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez.

In most cases, the gas sold at these stations was usually a couple of cents below all the other stations. HOWEVER, since Hugo Chavez has died, that is no longer the case. It seems that the Citgo's around here are now higher priced than the regular stations.

Go figure!
