I converted my Powerstroke to free vegetable oil. I use very little diesel and no gas. It's a great boycott.

Hey, this is a super old thread but hey! Me and my friends will be driving across the country from BC to NB sooooooooon and the van runs on veg! We will need to fill up and would LOVE any info on perhaps places that we could pick up from, willing to pay a bit.... prefer free veggie oil or even biodeisel ok. We are going to NB to start building our sustainable house and farm on some land and our friend was kind enough to offer to drive us in the vegmobile! Any tips very welcome and appreciated! Thank you so much in advance, I'm sure we will figure it out anyway but it is so nice to have someone point you in the right direction!

Naturally veggie oil works in a diesel - not a gas engine!

I don't think my gas engines would like that.
However, CNG is a viable alternative for me. Super clean burning, local stations, and only $1.03 per gallon equivalent!

In more and more areas, used veggie oil is at a premium because commercial interests are paying for and recycling it into bio fuels.
There is less "free" oil all the time.
And that isn't a boycott, don't be silly, that is just using an alternative fuel.

Im sure there are small take out places that would gladly give away used veggie oil. Still - I wouldnt consider it completely free but almost. You still have to filter it transport it etc. Might not be completely safe to store up for too long a period - attracts bears & assorted critters !
