They won't be if everyone participated in the boycott. But most of the time, only a small portion participates and the impact to the boycotted is too insignifant to matter!!

We should still be boycotting even with prices low. Especially the large chains!! We have a chain in our area that is purposely keeping prices higher than they should be. We have very few independents, whom have gas prices around $1.97 a gallon. But the chain refuses to go below $2.07 a gallon.

What is wrong with that picture??

No. Where you spend your money in a capitalist society is a vote of support. Withholding that is a strong message to the business. Businesses don't spend billions of dollars a year advertising to customers they already have. They spend this money trying to acquire those customers who don't give them their money.

As such, boycotting a business is always effective unless the company is a monopoly. Seeing it take hold won't happen overnight though.

Yes, I do business with the gas station that sell the high octane at the cheapest price. For the time being in my area some independent sell super at 10 cents per liter more than regular one. On Thursday Ultramar sell super at 9 cents per liter more than regular one. I don't buy higrade from those selling it at 14 cents per liter more than regular.

Yes - and, with gas prices plunging, I don't hear a peep about boycotts. :)

We should boycott gas stations that charge more for credit cards. Gas companies should be alarmed at this as well. They push their cards and give discounts then greedy gas stations nullify it by adding a dime a gallon for credit.

A real one, no.
A gas station boycott, yes. You can't get enough people to participate.

Yep, why refuse to buy when eventually you will be forced to anyway? Now if I could use "reliable" (ha ha) public transportation, it may work but in little towns, no sense if only one or two sources for fuel.
