Gas mileage made here in USA should be better by now I think. Other than hybrids it's not much.. many imports do better and I know we could too..so how come?

High time we get on that bandwagon! Why Chrysler corp. doesn't even make a hybrid that I know of! Come on people

I'd buy a Ford or a Tesla if I were buying domestic.

I've given up on American cars because they've disappointed me MANY times. So, I'll go for imports now!

What American Cars are actually made in America? There seems to be more Foreign Cars than American Cars---American being the US---built in America. Most so called American Cars are just Foreign Cars with a US Name Brand.

Imports; if Detroit brought in decent mid-size pickups with diesel, I'd take a serious look.

Everyone's in a hurry to get to the stoplight much less worry about gas mileage. It's the American way until we run out of gas.

I'd rather buy Canada/USA made.Don't like Chrysler and wouldn't trust GM, aespecially after they killed their elctric car. Ford or Tesla would be the only two I'd consider.

Ford Fiesta will have a 45HWY MPG car coming out sometime soon. That's pretty darn good, imo.

I'm old school and still believe in American! I hate to see the foreigns take over and would really like to take pride in what we make, but I know it's not going that way...seems like the imports are more dependable and are better on gas. the only foreign things I own is a dirt bike and a tractor.

I agree! Many of the population doesn't know that much of import parts are made in the USA...

I am sure Big Oil cringes at the thought of a car getting 100 miles or more on a gallon of gas. Its their survival to want cars to get poor gas mileage.

Humans have a bad habit of not doing what they don't have to or can put off 'til tomorrow. Sometimes the western world is more motivated to live up to something, sometimes other parts of the world reveal us to be lethargic, behind-the-curve and bottom-liners.

The best voice we've got is to buy the imports, vote with our wallets. American manufacturers will get the message eventually. You can hardly blame them for not making what we're not buying. I find the whole history of Chevy's EV1 to be worse than bad business and taking the science backwards, but nearly morally reprehensible. I hope it puts them far enough behind the competition that all the bailouts the Democrats throw at them can't save them.

Personally.

While it's sort of a different subject, it's definitely tied in and relevant to your question, I'd strongly suggest you take the time to watch "who killed the electric car" documentary uploaded on youtube. Even if you're not in the market for one, you should still find it as interesting as the question you ask here.
