Wish we knew the true answer to this. When I notice one Sinclair station has jumped up in price, all the Sinclair stations jump to the same price and then all the stations around them jump. Somewhat supply and demand I guess.

In Michigan prices can jump between 20/30 cents in one day. Just recently I filled up in the morning at $3.07 per gallon by the afternoon the same station had raised the price to $3.39! Today it's now dropped to $3.23 a gallon.

The government controls prices regardless of crude oil, and how inexpensive it is they want our blood not money

A couple of months ago, the gas in SW Florida shot up 25 cents in a weekend. It was unreal.

8 to 10 cents, I wish. Try about 20 cents once in a while in Ohio.

In Canada, with gas in liters, we see prices move up 10 cents, which would be like 40 cents difference in a day.. in the States.... Greed on the part of the gas companies... no other explanation occurs to me. Today there is a 6 cent per liter difference between two stations in our town.. and people still buy at the higher price... now is that greed or stupidity.

Free market system. Actually, it's not. If it was, price swings would be much worse.

What ever happened to the theories of supply and demand when it comes to gas prices? Have the definitions of supply and demand been altered?

Agreed. It seems my station loves to drop their price on Fridays, because I buy on Friday mornings, and by the afternoon it's down 3-6 cents the past two weeks. It's aggravating.
