Mine is when they check your tire pressure and don't put all the valve stem caps back on. Seems like I always end up south one or two missing.

Seat not being put back where it was when they drove it into the bay and playing with my radio settings or changing the station.

i dont want to see where they have been. no oily fingerprints, no readjusted mirrors, seats, radio.

Has to be the upselling; always pushing for pricey maintenance items(throttle body cleaning, brake fluid flushing), that have little effect on vehicle life or mpgs.

That said, I haven't been to a dealer for non-warranty work in decades. Plenty of talented techs out there running their own shop.

The use of an air gun to tighten lug nuts, rather than torquing them to spec. Yesterday, I replaced all the brake pads on my wife's car and ended up
bending a breaker bar trying to get some of the lug nuts off.

The seat is left too far back, but they do cover the seats and floors and they even wash our baby off every time can't really complain!!:)

Using an air wrench on those plastic lugs holding the wheel covers on. Several lugs have been broken. I now take the wheel covers off myself before taking our vehicles in for servicing.

I has several issues at one service department. 1st vehicle, they left a plastic jug wedged under the hood. 2nd vehicle, they broke off several of the plastic lug nuts during a tire rotation. I found both issues after the service. Needless to say, I do not go there any more. I guess my point is poor service and not paying attention to detail. Also, let me know if you broke something so we can figure out to fix it.

When I worked in a garage, we always searched the engine compartment with a drop light to recover tools or replaced parts. If you slam a hood on something like you found, it would definitely damage the vehicle.

I am not referring, in this case, to the dealer contiki...I noted it as a full service car wash I went to, and when I brought it to the attention of the owner's son who I know quite well, he corrected it.

I noted it one other time at an oil change place that I went to more out of convenience than knowing how good their service was at the time. Needless to say I never went back.

Once I took my car to get spark plugs, wires and distributor cap changed and then i noticed a burning smell from the engine bay. When I opened the hood, the old distributor cap and the wires were still in the engine bay, just lying there.

When they don't do what I ask them to like change the oil and filter and nothing else and try to do jobs that I don't want them to do like change the air filter which then I have to show them how to do it because it is a custom installation.

Why does the stealer charge so much more than an independent shop that does better faster work.

Don't mess with my radio, you're there to work on my car, not listen to my radio.....

I don't have this problem at all..........never have.....

I find when my car and my wife's car go in for service at our local Honda dealership, they turn our radios off......this has always been the case over the many years of service there.........

Hello tjhunter,

I rarely have my car serviced as I do my own work, but after much thought I'd have to say my pet peeve is to get into my vehicle and when I start it the radio is set on maximum volume to some "weird" music. If all they are doing is driving the vehicle from the garage to the parking lot, why do they have to turn the radio on at all??

That doesn't seem like a pet peeve after car servicing. That seems like a a problem DURING servicing.

Mine is when they adjust the tire pressure. I keep mine at 65psi and for some reason the shop always puts it down to 50psi, even if I ask them not to adjust the pressure. It seems like I also lose the valve caps.
