Totally sick of it. Prices up 50 cents / gallon in most areas except in 1 small area. WHAT EXCUSE DO ALL THE OIL COMPANIES HAVE NOW.

No Zoop, I'd say you're calling others here besides me liars because others have also posted higher prices than you claim they are...who am I going to believe, someone looking a computer screen, or someone reading the prices off of the gas station signs? Cyber vs actual, actual wins every time!

>>Apparently you are the one not seing the REAL prices...unless you're calling everyone else in here liars...<<

Not everyone else, grampi, just you.

>>I don't care what your little source is saying, it doesn't have eyes like we do....<<

My "little source" grampi is the gas price data on this website. The gas price data for toledogasprices.com shows that from 7/29 to 7/31 there was a 30 cent price spike in the Toledo, OH area. Granted that's an average so some prices likely spiked more and some spiked less.

BTW, that price spike was preceded by a 34 cent price drop from 7/12 to 7/27.

Also the gas in the tanks at the stations just got more expensive by just sitting there, how is that right?

The stations them self do not make that much from the gas. They only keep 10-12 cents per gal they sell. The rest goes to the corporations. And the owner of the station is told what the price he sells it at.

"Don't be surprised if that happens frequently with the supply and demand in the current situation."

Are you talking about the situation of the U.S. swimming in so much supply that we're exporting more refined product than ever before?

"$2.99?!? Cannot remember the last time we saw prices like that here in Michgan City/LaPorte,IN area. We "dropped" to $3.53 to only have it spike yesterday 42c to a absurdly ridiculous $3.95. Heck just a month ago we were at $4.35! Sick of this. Why this area is out of control price wise I have no clue. Friends of ours moved to S.Carolina and we have friends in Tennessee and they both say they don't see anywhere near the insane spikes we see here. Might jump 5c here or there. We see ten times that in one day....never used to be like this. What's changed? WHO the frick is in control of this!"

Midwest prices have been out of control for quite some time now and nothing is ever done about it...and there's no reason for these ridiculous prices either, it's just gouging by the industry...

They could drop gas to $1.99 and not be losing money...all they're doing is price gouging...and I'm not talking about at the gas station level, the gouging is taking place at the industry level...

You can thank the banks, speculators and investors for these prices.

They don't need an excuse, they just want more of your money. And they had probably heard the BMW has set a new standard for the Hybrid car. As time goes on the oil companies know that there will be less and less demand on oil.

If the price at a station went from $2.99 to $3.65 I'm sure that at $2.99 they were losing money big time on each gallon.

One would think you would get used to being in a hyperactive gasoline market and try to time your buying to avoid the inevitable spikes.

Speedway is less dominant around here but we do have similar if less severe swings. By studying patterns and watching wholesale (not readily available for free for Toledo :( )I've not been caught in years with an empty tank after a price hike.

Gas Buddy has indicated that prices have gone up about 15 cents in the past few days after dropping 30 cents. And, while the local Toledo newspaper and television is reporting the price increase, they're also noting that prices are expected to drop later this week and next week. Is there any reason that you didn't comment when the prices dropped?

And, if you're going to comment on prices, why not post gas prices to let others be more knowledgeable shoppers.

BuzzLOL

I assume you didn't have a chance to comment on the price drop for your area until the drop reversed itself, but can you provide a little more information about the station that went up in price by 66 cents in the middle of the day. Even for Toledo a price swing that much is unusual to say the least. Are you sure you saw both prices correctly?

.. Yeah, I saw a station at $2.99 at lunch time today, but figured I didn't have time to get gas and make it back to work on time, so figured I'd tank up after work... got off work at 4:30PM and now that station is $3.65..!!! The usual pricing games... anybody see the hokey excuse for raising the price they're using today? A station near the stateline is showing $3.15 an hour ago... I'll check that one...
