Shell offers extra 'bonus points' that are credited to Air Miles account within 60-120 days after end of the Program.
Example:
A typical program offers 40 points extra if you complete 4 x $20 (minimum) purchases by a certain date.

How is this program working for you?

Never shop at Shell. I get all my points from the grocery store and liquor store.

often the gas price at Shell is no better than that at other local stations.
The Bonus events often have "strings attached" (buy higher grades or large amounts per fill up) and so I find I rarely take advantage of these offers.

The Air Miles program in general has changed lately and not for the better.
I used to be able to cash air miles for gift certificates at Shell or Metro grocery stores but no more with the intro of the "Air Miles Cash" program.
As well Air Miles never used to expire but recently the program has changed and they now have a 5 year "shelf life". As a result I have a number of Air Miles and few rewards of interest to spend them on.

For my lifestyle the Esso Rewards program works better.

since an air mile is worth about 10 cents I do not go out of my way to get them.

I don't bother with them. I do use my discounts from the grocery store or on my Walmart charge card because I thing you get more for your money.
The air miles are wasted on me because I search the different airlines to get the best rate.

Getting back to the extra bonuses - Seems like they only get credit if you chase after them by reporting 'missing miles'. (This seems to be a Canadian program....but I like the dime-discount idea at Kroger. Wonder how fresh their gas is. :>) )

Always use Air Miles card when I can. I also do online surveys that reward me Air Miles. Have been rewarded hundreds of dollars over the years for points exchanged for gas at Shell.

I don't use this feature and don't need it because I don't fly with all of the hassles involved now.
