I just saved 15¢/gal just by looking at the various prices at gas stations along my route, and finding the station near that route, that had the cheapest gas . Do you do this, and if so, what's the most you have saved per gallon by doing this?

$0.00, as I filled up at the base station today.

Over the past two days I saved $.40-$.60/day, as where I filled up was cheaper than the base station.

$.52 saved today compared to my base station.

Will be saving a bunch tomorrow as I'm traveling and can plan a fillup on the way to a friend's. Since it's much cheaper on the way than around here (or at the friend's), I'll save plenty.

5 cents a liter... roughly 20 cents per gallon... got it at 129.9 vs 134.9.

.. Stations around here usually on a 50c-60c/gallon price spread... I can usually plan my routes to fill up at the lowest priced station without going out of my way more than a block or two...

Although I contribute to Gas Buddy fuel price posting, I don't use it for my fuel purchases. There are two reasons for this. The first is that there are only two gasoline stations in my locale which are eleven miles from any another -- their prices are traditionally lower also. The second reason is that I use non-ethanol 87 Octane Regular, only available at one of the two stations, a truck stop. I always keep my tanks full as the nearest station that sells E-0 is 27 miles away.

With all that said, the efforts of Gas Buddy posting gas prices are apparent by the responses here. These days every few cents does matter. I've read on numerous posts where GBs post more than just enough to acquire 750 points. That is admirable :-).

Nothing. Just be an oportunist before the gas corporations gouge you and that is coming with the labor day weekend. Quick to go up but slow to come down. Funny thing is I think governments rely on this tax to cover all their financial blunders.

I save $2-$7 per fill.
* filling before the spike
* filling at cheaper stations.
* using coupons and discount offers

Gas buddy is great. Wish they had one for the grocery store.

Since this is early morning, I'll answer for yesterday. I saved about 14 cents a gallon by knowing this out of the way (for me) station was much cheaper. Thanks GB.

Wednesday I saved 35 cents a gallon. From the station closest to where I live to where I bought gas.

$0.00 – saw a station that was one cent cheaper, but wouldn't have made sense to go there - especially since I was still at work (must consider my boss).

$1.48 today versus base. Of course, the price was a few miles from the main station, but it was on the way to the base, so it made sense to gas up

Wouldabeen $.85 cents today had the base station been open. As it happened, the station I went to was quite a bit cheaper, but from the angle I came in at I only went there because the base station had its pumps closed.
