I use several rewards programs. The primary one I use is called Fuel Perks, which is associated with the Winn Dixie grocery chain in Georgia and Florida. Using it, I got gas for $.0549 a gallon ($3.399 on the pump) when I filled my tank yestereve. Total cost: $10.98.

I also use the fuel rewards program associated with Kroger stores.

I have a "Express Points" card from Friendly Express, a convenience store chain located primarily in SE Georgia.

Finally, there are two other convience store chains (Flash Foods and Parkers) in my area that offer discouts for fuel purchased at their stores. The catch is you must link your bank account to their loyalty cards, which can then be used as debit cards for transactions in their stores.

Yes, FRN - saves a minimum of 3 cents per gal at participating Shell stations. More if you participate in their MasterCard program.

I live in SoCal. The Safeway chain out here is called Vons and they (I think ALL of Sfwy stores) offer a gas rewards program. Here, it gets you up to $.20/gal at Chevron and Texaco stations. They also have their own gas stations and offer up to $1.00/gal off. Unfortunately, there are only a couple of THOSE stations in all of San Diego county. The accumulated points are hard to come by; one buck, one point. 100 points gets one gas reward ($.10/gal). Von's sometimes offers a "4X" special on some items like gift cards for other stores. Go to Macy's for a $50 gift card, you get a $50 gift card. Go to Vons for the same card and you get a $50 gift card and 200 points or $.20/gal off. Gotta buy groceries anyway and birthday gifts when they come around. Might as well get gas that's a little cheaper than other places. When the discount places are cheaper than the $.20 "reward", then save the discount for later. NOTE: The reward points and gas points expire at the end of the month, a month after they were earned, so you can't sit on them like a bank account, at 4 bucks/gal every little bit helps.

Makes no sense to ignore fuel rewards. Safeway program with Chevron for $.20 off per gal up to 25 gals per fill up saves us $5 per tank on our dog hauler for weekend agility trials. Not such a big deal when your tank only holds 15 gals or so.
