I got curious and checked to see how gas prices moved from state to state. In adjoining states-Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, for example-gas prices rose and fell in nearly perfect synchronization. The same was true of Alabama,Tennessee and Kentucky; California,Washington and Oregon(with CA having the pricier fuel) and Texas,Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Is this a distribution issue? An EPA issue? Fuel taxes vary state to state, but in the case of Alabama,Tennessee and Kentucky, gas prices were nearly identical, even over a five-year period. Any thoughts?

I've checked your figures, Alex, and find them totally bogus. Go back to the drawing board and check your numbers.

I got to thinking about your observation and came to the conclusion that everywhere I went, there I was.

You have a lot of time on your hands, don't chew? Maybe a part-time job at a gas station will give you the background to answer your question. Then you can enlighten the rest of us who are slaves to the 8 to 5 PM job.
